I have encountered identical problem if I used DBD-Oracle having

    version > 1.12

in Windows environment (Windows 2000/XP) with ActiveState perl 5.6.x/5.8.x.

So I am running DBD-Oracle 1.12 - it works without any problems.

I don't know, if this behavior is windose specific.
