Well I got this one.

That's the problem with using an ancient piece of crap like ezmlm, it has horrid management period, especially since ezmlm lists (thank god theres only 2 of them left that I'm on) send bounce probe message 3 weeks or so later after the block message, and 9/10 times its always because of an RBL entry, the list needs upgrading to either Ecartis or Mailman, one of the two, but I suspect it'll remain in teh dark ages for some time to come.

Hi Res,

Ecartis which was last updated in 2003 because of a security issue? Is that the one you are recommending? How would changing mailing list managers help that email is almost entirely broken (the perl.org servers reject something like 9993 out of 10000 incoming mails -- an incredible amount of spam and viruses).

Ezmlm does indeed have deficiencies, but I don't see that this is one of them. (If anyone cares, the big feature of ezmlm is that it's insanely robust. It's uniquely "just works" software. It is requiring very minimal ongoing maintenance and it makes it very easy for just a few volunteers to run 150+ lists).

Anyway -- all this is off-topic here; if you or anyone else would like to follow-up, do it to [email protected]. :-)
