October 3, 2008 NOW THAT'S SERVICE!
This shows that God's Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave him is far greater than their names. But angels are only servants. They are spirits sent from God to care for those who will receive salvation. Hebrews 1:4, 14 One of the things I got out of the teaching I received while attending a Pentecostal Church was the fact that angels are messengers, and they serve us! Wow, is that awesome? Yes, like many people, I grew up hearing about angels, but I don't think I really believed anything about them until 1986 when I read Frank Peretti's book, This Present Darkness. Even so, I don't think I realized their importance until I was taught that angels are here to serve us. Well, do you realize that Jesus came to serve us too? He did. He served us by dying for our sins. Without that service where would you be today? Max Lucado wrote a book several years ago titled, And the Angels Were Silent. Now, like Peretti's book, Lucado's book made me stop and think a little more about how angels feel. Then, of course, there was the TV show Touched by an Angel that gave us an even different view of what angels might be like. Well, since we don't know a whole lot about angels, I don't know about you, but I'm comfortable knowing that Jesus served me while on the cross and that He continues to serve me by constantly being at the right hand of my Father and reminding Him that my sins are paid in full! That is more than the angels can ever do. Father, thank You for loving me. Thank You for making plans for me to be served even before I was born. Help me remember that You have provided angels to assist me when I need a little help my friends and they are just a little too busy to help. You are awesome! Now, Lord, we pray that You will guide us in the elections that are ahead.and guide the candidate that will be our next President. ******************************************* O.
