MOCKERS BEWARE

Destruction is certain for those who drag their sins behind them, tied with
cords of falsehood. They even mock the Holy One of Israel and say, "Hurry up
and do something! Quick, show us what you can do. We want to see what you have
planned."
Destruction is certain for those who say that evil is good and good is evil;
that dark is light and light is dark; that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter.
Destruction is certain for those who think they are wise and consider
themselves to be clever.
Destruction is certain for those who are heroes when it comes to drinking, who
boast about all the liquor they can hold. They take bribes to pervert justice.
They let the wicked go free while punishing the innocent.
Isaiah 5:18-23

Lurking among people who genuinely want a closer relationship with God there
are some counterfeits. They want to associate with God, but they don't want
to be close to Him.

If our children are out there running around telling everyone that they are our
children, telling people that they love us, but don't have a relationship
with us, they are mocking us - they are counterfeits. That is how counterfeit
Christians are. They want the respect the name "Christian" brings, but they
don't want to take the time necessary to develop a relationship or allow Him to
change their lives. Yet, when bad things happen and they need help, they
are quick to call on His name. They want a quick fix, but they don't want His
advice.

Those of us who work with hurting people see this happen regularly. They get
into hot water and think they want counseling, but basically they just want
someone to agree with them that they are being treated unfairly. God gives us
the power of the Holy Spirit to discern the real from the counterfeit and
know who to work with (most of the time).

When these people cry out for help, God laughs. However, when they repent and
call on His name, like the Prodigal Son, He runs to deliver them. Jesus gave
us a beautiful example and a warning in Matthew 7:6, "'Don't give what is holy
to unholy people. Don't give pearls to swine! They will trample the pearls,
then turn and attack you.'"

This may sound harsh, but if your time is as dear to you as my time is to me it
is good to know that God doesn't expect us to reach out to those who are
still in the mocking mode. If He can wait until their repentance, who are we
not to?

Father, again I just praise You and thank You for these powerful lessons.
Continue to pour Your truth into us and help us know when to offer our help and
when to refrain. We need more of Your wisdom and less of our understanding.
