When God promised Abraham that he would become the father of many nations, Abraham believed him. God had also said, "Your descendants will be as numerous as the stars," even though such a promise seemed utterly impossible! And Abraham's faith did not weaken, even though he knew that he was too old to be a father at the age of one hundred and that Sarah, his wife, had never been able to have children. Romans 4:18-19 A few years ago, a precious lady in our church had a liver transplant. She believed with all her heart that God had allowed this to happen in her life so that she would have more time to be with her precious family. It did allow a few short months, but only a few short months. Let me tell you this, however. When God transferred her to Heaven and we held her service, it was a praise and worship time if I've ever seen one. From what I understand, as a result, her mother and sister were saved. Now, what do you think about that? Like Abraham, Vickie Parrish had faith. Her faith was strong enough to trust God with anything and everything in her life. She didn't complain - no matter what! Although I didn't know her personally, the stories I heard about her were just absolutely astounding. This woman of only forty-nine years lived totally by faith. She never lost hope. She never lost courage. However, she planned her funeral service and it was absolutely amazing. It was truly a praise and worship service like none I've ever known before. As a matter of fact, it was very close to what I have planned in my head for what I want to happen when my time comes. What is your "going away party" going to be like? Do you have faith enough to go ahead and make plans? Will your life be a living testimony of faith to those you leave behind? It's really something to think about! Father, I truly thank You for allowing me to be a part of Vickie's going away party. It is just awesome how You used her life and her death to be a living testimony to those she loved so very much. Help us all to learn from her and Abraham to live our lives by faith in You, trusting You completely for everything. Forgive us for not doing that in the past and help us start this day doing it right! In Jesus' name, Amen! ******************************************* O.
