"Doubt"

"If God really existed, I doubt He would allow children to suffer."

"I doubt a loving God would create an eternal hell."

"The story of creation (in Genesis) doesn't fit with modern science; so, I
doubt."

~~~~~~~
The phrase "Doubting Thomas" has been used for centuries to describe someone
who refuses to believe something without visual and physical evidence.  These
"Doubting Thomases" are suspended between conflicting situations because the
information they have (or the information they understand) does not support
what they are being asked to accept (or what they want to accept).  They're
skeptical...
"Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward
Jesus.  But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried
out, 'Lord, save me!'  Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him.
'You of little faith,' He said, 'why did you doubt?'" (Matthew 14:30-32
- NIV)
Peter had seen many miracles so he knew they were possible.  Most think Peter
doubted that he could continue to walk on water in the face of the raging
storm.  However, the NLT translation sees Peter's doubt in a different light:
"You have so little faith," Jesus said. "Why did you doubt Me?"
It wasn't about Peter or the storm or even the miracles - it was about Jesus!
Sometimes we need to ask ourselves, "What do we doubt?"  Do we doubt that He
loves children or that hell exists?  Do we doubt that He created the universe
and everything in it?  Or, are those just subtle shadows of the real question?
Do we doubt Him?
My friends, God either exists and everything Jesus said is true; or, He does
not exist and everything He said is a lie.  What does your experience tell
you?  What does your heart tell you?
Are you skeptical?  Then maybe you should be like "Doubting Thomas" in another
way. Ask!  Jesus said "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will
find; knock and the door will be opened to you." (Matthew 7:7 - NIV)
But when you ask, do it believing that God hears and will give generously to
all without finding fault because "he who doubts is like a wave of the sea,
blown and tossed by the wind.  That man should not think he will receive
anything from the Lord." (James 1:5-7)
Don't doubt!  Take the hand of the Lord of Creation. and walk on the water.
".I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by
Me."
 - John 14:6 (KJV)
Amen and Amen!
