Nothing significant happened in 1844. No prophecy had been fulfilled that
year.

Simply writing today’s date brings to mind the significant history of God’s
people in this “time of the end” in which we now live (cf. Dan. 12:4).

The story of October 22, 1844, is the story of a sincere group of faithful
Christian people who were deeply impressed with the prophecies of Daniel and
the Revelation, and especially with the prophecy of Daniel 8:14, “Unto 2300
days [years in prophetic symbolism], then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.”
