Tuesday January 6, 2009 WO-MAN
Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to farm the land and to take care of it. The LORD God commanded the man. He said, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden. But you must never eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil because when you eat from it, you will certainly die." Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is right for him." The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She will be namedwoman because she was taken from man." That is why a man will leave his father and mother and will be united with his wife, and they will become one flesh. The man and his wife were both naked, but they weren't ashamed of it. Genesis 2:15-18 God did everything for the beings He created; He planted food and even gave them one another. Of course, there was other food for them as well; they just had to "work" for it. There was just one thing they were told they could not do - eat from the tree of Good and Evil. What astounds me is the fact that: "The man and his wife were both naked, but they weren't ashamed of it." They had no realization of nakedness because, at this point, there was no shame involved in humanity. Imagine that for a few minutes.can you even get your mind around it? I can't! My grandson Cody can. He gets out of the tub and doesn't take the time to dry off and comes straight into the den with his towel half draped around him. I can't begin to tell you how many times we've told him he is to dry off on the rug, at least put on his underwear, and then come into the den. He just doesn't seem to get it. He's been doing this since he was a baby and he thinks it's okay to continue doing it. After all, we are his family and he isn't ashamed of anything. He would literally run around naked if we would allow him to do so. His sister Callie? Well, she's not quite that bad, but close enough. She can't stand wearing tops when she's hot. We've tried to explain that it's okay for boys to do that, but not girls.maybe one day! Tomorrow, we will look again at how it all fell apart. Don't hesitate to share your opinions, they could show up in one of the devotionals! Father, we thank You so much for Your Word, for Your grace that we have now, and for the many sacrifices made so that we can be free - not to run around naked, but to know that our sins are forgiven.
