Tuesday January 13, 2009 THE LORD WAS HEARTBROKEN
The LORD saw how evil humans had become on the earth. All day long their deepest thoughts were nothing but evil. The LORD was sorry that he had made humans on the earth, and he was heartbroken. So he said, "I will wipe off the face of the earth these humans that I created. I will wipe out not only humans, but also domestic animals, crawling animals, and birds. I'm sorry that I made them." But the LORD was pleased with Noah. Genesis 6:5-8 Well, there you have it. It finally happened. Even after people learned to worship; they learned how to sin even more, even to the point that God was exasperated with the fact that He had even created - everything! Ever felt that way? God actually let us see His human side in this section of scripture. He let us see that He has "feelings" just like the "beings" He created; one of them being disappointment - the other being anger. Pretty soon we will see that He also knows all about remorse - a feeling some of His beings have no feeling for. If you are like me you probably know a few of those folks; you know folks who can look you in the eye and lie while stealing you blind. Some of those people are our very own children who have drug addictions. Like our Father, we are exasperated with them, and, at times, we just may wish they were never born. Please don't feel guilty for thinking those thoughts - He understands. He knows our heart - and He knows theirs. All we can do is pray and hope that one day they will return - and in remorse seek Him and His marvelous grace. Father, thank You for showing us Your heart. Thank You for Your unfailing love and mercy that never fails. Help us as we try to do the same without being doormats to those who have wronged us. ******************************************* O.
