Actually, they don't. The Apostle Paul wrote, "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, NEITHER
WERE THANKFUL; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened" (Romans 1:21). Men who have no faith in God, do have confidence in man. They have lots of pride, lots of self-esteem, and think very highly of themselves. But they also have a strong sense of entitlement, and demand their "rights" without earning their keep. "The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough" (Proverbs 30:15). In other words, people who have no faith in God are greedy, blood- sucking animals who demand more and more, but are never satisfied and never thankful. You could wait on them hand and foot till the cows come home, and they STILL demand more, and thank less.
