Who Made the World and the People in It?
>
> 1. In the first verse of the Bible, who does it say made the world?
>
> "In the beginning God created [made] the heavens and the earth" (Genesis
> 1:1).
>
> This is what the Bible teaches. God made everything. God is the Maker or
> Creator of the world and everything in it.
>
> 2. Who helped make this world?
>
> "In the past, God spoke to our people through the prophets. He spoke at
> many
> times. He spoke in different ways. But in these last days he has spoken to
> us through HIS SON. He [Jesus] is the one whom God appointed to receive
> all
> things. GOD MADE EVERYTHING THROUGH HIM" (Hebrews 1:1,2).
>
> Jesus Christ helped make this world. Jesus lived in heaven with His Father
> before He came to this earth as a baby.
>
> In John 6:51 Jesus says, "I am the living bread that came down from
> heaven."
>
> In John 17:5 He says, "So now, Father, give glory to me [Jesus] in heaven
> where your throne is. Give me the glory I had with you before the world
> began."
>
> Now you can understand why Jesus thinks a lot about this world. He helped
> to
> make it in the beginning.
>
> 3. Who is the third Person that helped to make this world?
>
> "The earth didn't have any shape. And it was empty. Darkness was over the
> surface of the ocean. At that time, the ocean covered the earth. THE
> SPIRIT
> OF
> GOD was hovering over the waters" (Genesis 1:2).
>
> You can see that three Persons worked together to make this world. We call
> these three Persons the "Godhead."
>
> Some people might say, "We thought there is only one God." This is true.
> But
> our one God is three Persons: 1.) God, the Father; 2.) God, the Son; and
> 3.)
> God, the Holy Spirit. These three are one in their work and in their
> plans.
> They work together as one.
>
> Look at a piece of rope. How many ropes do you see? You answer, "One." You
> are right, there is only one rope. But if you look up close carefully you
> will
> see that the rope is made up of three smaller ropes. The three ropes are
> rolled together into one rope. It is really only one rope.
>
> In heaven, all three Persons of the Godhead work together. They love us
> and
> care for us. They want to see us saved.
>
> 4. How many persons did Jesus say are in the Godhead?
>
> "So you must go and make disciples of all nations. Baptize them in the
> name
> of the FATHER and of the SON and of the HOLY SPIRIT" (Matthew 28:19).
>
> This is a very good verse. Jesus says there are three Persons in the
> Godhead -- Father, Son and Holy Spirit. ("Holy Ghost" and "Holy Spirit"
> are
> the same.)
>
> WE MUST HAVE A CREATOR
>
> 5. What does the Bible tell us about people who say, "There is no God"?
>
> "FOOLISH PEOPLE say in their hearts, 'There is no God'" (Psalm 53:1).
>
> Think about a computer. You are walking down the street. Across the street
> is a computer store. This store has many small parts to help you build a
> computer.
> There is an explosion. You are not hurt. You look around and you see a
> brand
> new computer at your feet. It works beautifully. You want to take it home
> so you can use the Internet. Where did the computer come from? Did it come
> together by itself in the explosion?
>
> Or suppose I say, "Look at that truck. It made itself. Some iron came from
> one country. Some rubber came from a different country. The iron and the
> rubber
> came together and made a truck by themselves. No person made it. It just
> happened by itself"
>
> You would say, "You are crazy. You are a fool." This is what God says
> about
> people who say, "There is no God. This world made itself. No one made the
> trees
> or the animals or man. They began and grew without any help. They just
> started and here they are." God says that people who say these things are
> foolish.
>
> 6. Some people say that man's life came from the animals. What does the
> Bible say about these people?
>
> God created man in His own image "They claimed to be wise. But they made
> fools of themselves. They would rather have statues of gods than the
> glorious God
> who lives forever. Their statues of gods are made to look like PEOPLE,
> BIRDS, ANIMALS and REPTILES. . . . They chose a lie instead of God's
> truth.
> THEY
> WORSHIPED AND SERVED CREATED THINGS. THEY DIDN'T WORSHIP THE CREATOR. But
> he
> [God] must be praised forever. Amen" (Romans 1:22, 23, 25).
>
> About 100 years ago some people began to teach a false idea called
> "evolution." These men said, "God did not make the world or the animals or
> men. The world
> began by itself. No one made it. Animals started to grow in warm mud
> millions of years ago. These small animals changed and grew larger until
> man
> came
> from them."
>
> This is what men say, but the Bible does not teach this. The Bible tells
> us
> that God made everything. God made man. He made the animals. God made the
> world
> and everything in it.
>
> WHERE DO THE ANIMALS AND TREES COME FROM?
>
> 7. Who made the animals and trees in the beginning of the world?
>
> "Then GOD said, 'Let the land produce plants. Let them bear their own
> seeds.
> And let there be trees on the land that bear fruit with seeds in it. Let
> each
> kind of plant or tree have its own kind of seeds.' And that's exactly what
> happened" (Genesis 1:11).
>
> "GOD made all kinds of wild animals. He made all kinds of livestock. He
> made
> all kinds of creatures that move along the ground. And God saw that it was
> good" (Genesis 1:25).
>
> God made the sea, the dry land, the fish, the birds, the trees, and the
> animals and all the other things. God created (made) all things.
>
> 8. Did people come from monkeys or other animals?
>
> "So God created man in His own likeness. He created him in THE LIKENESS OF
> GOD. He created them as male and female" (Genesis 1:27).
>
> It was God who made man in the first place. God made man "in His own
> image,"
> or like Himself. This is wonderful. God, the Ruler of the heavens and the
> earth,
> made us. We did not begin by ourselves or grow from the animals.
>
> WHO MADE THE STARS?
>
> 9. What other things did God make?
>
> "God made two great lights. He made the larger light [THE SUN] to rule
> over
> the day. He made the smaller light [THE MOON] to rule over the night. He
> also
> made THE STARS" (Genesis 1:16).
>
> 10. Who made the stars and the other worlds?
>
> "The heavens tell about the glory of God. The skies show that HIS hands
> created them" (Psalm 19:1).
>
> "I think about the heavens. I think about what YOUR FINGERS HAVE CREATED.
> I
> think about the moon and stars that you have set in place" (Psalm 8:3).
>
> God made more than this world. He made the sun and the moon. He also made
> the stars. Most of the stars are like our sun; but some are like our
> world.
> They
> are a long way from us.
>
> HOW DID GOD CREATE?
>
> 11. How did God make everything?
>
> "The heavens were made when the THE LORD COMMANDED IT to happen. All of
> the
> stars were created by the BREATH OF HIS MOUTH. HE SPOKE, and the world
> came
> into being. HE COMMANDED, and it stood firm" (Psalm 33:6, 9).
>
> God made everything out of nothing. This verse tells us that God spoke the
> word, and all things were created or made. This shows us how strong and
> powerful
> God is.
>
> 12. How can we understand that God made everything out of nothing?
>
> "WE HAVE FAITH. So we understand that everything was made when God
> commanded
> it. That's why we believe that what we see was not made out of what could
> be
> seen" (Hebrews 11:3).
>
> It is by faith that we understand how God made everything.
>
> We cannot see God. But we can believe in His power. Because we cannot see
> Him, that does not mean that we cannot believe in Him.
>
> Suppose you have a dog. That dog is blind. He cannot think as you can, He
> cannot do the things that you can. He cannot ever see you at all. But your
> dog
> knows you. He knows you are there. You give him food and water. Perhaps
> you
> give him a bed. He knows you are there by the things you do for him. We
> know
> God is there by the things He does for us.
>
> Some men say, "There is no God. There is no Creator ruling the world and
> the
> stars." These men are like a man who sees an airplane and says, "There is
> no
> pilot in that airplane. I cannot see him. The plane is flying by itself
> without a pilot."
>
> A foolish person says, "There is no God." When you look at the stars in
> the
> sky at night, remember God made them. He guides them through the heavens.
> When
> you look at the trees and flowers, remember God made them. God cares for
> them.
>
> When you think about yourself, say, "I am here because God made me. I am
> here to obey God." God made you, and God wants to guide you. He knows what
> is good
> for you. God gave you life, and God keeps you alive. You have "faith" when
> you believe God made everything.
>
> GOD WANTS US TO REMEMBER THE CREATION
>
> 13. At the end of the week when God created the world, what did He do?
>
> "So the heavens and the earth and everything in them were completed. By
> the
> seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing. So on the seventh
> day he RESTED from all his work. God BLESSED THE SEVENTH DAY and MADE IT
> HOLY. He rested on it. After he had created everything, he rested from all
> of
> the work he had done" (Genesis 2:1-3).
>
> "Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? . . . When it
> happened,
> the morning stars sang together. All the angels shouted with joy" (Job
> 38:4,
> 7).
>
> At the end of the creation week, GOD RESTED on the seventh day. He gave
> His
> BLESSING to it and MADE IT HOLY. All the angels and the people on other
> worlds
> sang together. They were happy to see the wonderful work of God's
> creation.
>
> OUR DUTY TO OUR CREATOR
>
> 14. How should we think about God, our Creator? Why should we think this
> way?
>
> "REMEMBER the One who created you. REMEMBER him [God] while you are still
> young" (Ecclesiastes 12:1).
>
> The Bible tells us to remember our Creator or Maker. It is good to do this
> while you are still young or no matter how old you are today. Now is the
> time
> to start believing in God. Do not wait until later. He is your Creator and
> He asks you to have faith in Him now. If you believe in Him now, He will
> care
> for you through all your life.
>
> Some people wait until they are sick, or someone whom they love dies. Then
> they ask God to help them. Some people wait until they are old before they
> believe
> in God. God wants us to believe in Him now. Then He can care for us and
> guide us all our lives.
>
> 15. Is it easy to understand God's plan for us?
>
> "You have known the Holy Scriptures ever since you were a little child.
> They
> are able to teach you how to be saved by believing in Christ Jesus" (2
> Timothy
> 3:15).
>
> Even a little child can understand the Bible. Study it carefully. It will
> show you the plan of God for your life.
>
> 16. What does God want us to do?
>
> "Everything has now been heard. And here's the final thing I want to say.
> Have RESPECT FOR GOD and OBEY HIS COMMANDMENTS. That's what everyone
> should
> do"
> (Ecclesiastes 12:13).
>
> God is our Maker. Because He made us, He loves us. For this reason we love
> Him and obey Him. Because He loves us, we trust Him. He knows how we are
> made.
> He knows what will come in the future. He knows what is good for you.
>
> If you will obey God, He will lead you with love the way a father leads a
> little child. He will show you what He wants you to do.
>
> NOW is the best time to ask for God's help. He will help you obey and
> follow
> Him. Ask God now to help you. He is waiting for you to ask Him.
