The word of the Lord endures forever."
Now this is the word which by the
gospel was preached to you.
                 ( 1 peter 1:25 )

Dear Addison,
When we think of those who brought about the success of
the early church, we often think of the work of the Apostles.
However if it hadn't been for the work of unsung heroes the
early church may not have survived! Those men and women
who through some small but significant act, moved the church
forward. So today we will take a look at some of those unsung
heroes, and the roles that they played!

***A Crippled Man. Book of Acts 3:9-12...
When all the people saw him walking and praising
God, they recognized him as the same man who
used to sit begging at the temple gate called
Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and
amazement at what had happened to him.
                                                  ( Acts 3:9-10 )

After he was healed, he praised God. This caused a crowd
to gather to see what was happening. Peter used that
opportunity to tell many about Jesus.

***Five Men Selected By The Apostles To Become Deacons.
  Book of Acts 6:2-7...

This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose
Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit;
also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas,
and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism.
They presented these men to the apostles, who
prayed and laid their hands on them. So the word
of God spread. The number of disciples in
Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number
of priests became obedient to the faith.
                                                ( Acts 6:5-7 *NIV )

Everyone has heard of Stephen and many know Philip, but
what about Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and
Nicholas. Those unsung heroes not only laid the foundation
for service in the church, but their hard work also gave the
Apostles the time they needed to preach the Gospel.

***Ananias Book of Acts 9:10-19...
He was given the responsibility of being the first to
Show Christ's love to Paul after his conversion.

***Cornelius Book of Acts 10:30-35...
His example showed Peter that the gospel was for all
mankind, Jews as well as Gentiles.

***Rhoda Book of Acts12:13-15...
Her persistence brought Peter inside Mary's house where
 He would be safe.

***James Book of Acts 15:13-21...
"It is my judgment, therefore, that we
should not make it difficult for the Gentiles
who are turning to God.
                              ( Acts 15:19 )
James took command of the Jerusalem council and had the
courage to help form a decision that would affect literally
millions of Christians over many generations.

***Lydia Book of Acts 16:13-15...
She opened her house to Paul, from which he led many to
Christ and founded the church at Philippi.

***Jason Book of Acts 17:5-9...
He risked his life for the Gospel by allowing Paul to stay in
His house. He is a wonderful example of standing up for
What is right, even though he faced persecution for it.

***Paul's Nephew Book of Acts 23:16-24...
He saved Paul's life by telling the officials of a murder plot.

***Julius Book of Acts 27:1, & 43.
He spared Paul when the other soldiers wanted to kill him.

There you have some of the unsung heroes written about
in the Book of Acts. It is my hope that you will read all the
verses relating to each one, for without them we might not
have a Church today.

Have a wonderful Sunday, Addison, and may God Richly Bless
You!

  All My Love & Prayers,
      Pastor Allen
