> The Beginning of Sin in the World, and Its End
> MAN'S GARDEN HOME
>
> 1. Who created or made man upon the earth? How?
>
> “Then the LORD GOD formed a man. He made him OUT OF THE DUST of the
> ground.
> He BREATHED the BREATH OF LIFE into him. And the man became a living
> person
> [soul]” (Genesis 2:7).
>
> Yes, God made man. He gave him the “breath of life”. The breath of life
> makes him breathe, live, think, talk, and walk. His life comes from God.
> God
> put life into man’s body. There was no life in the body until God gave it
> the breath of life.
>
> 2. How did God make the first woman?
>
> “So the Lord God caused him [Adam] to fall into a deep sleep. While the
> man
> was sleeping, the Lord God TOOK OUT ONE OF HIS RIBS . . . Then the Lord
> God
> made a woman. . . . And he brought her [Eve] to him” (Genesis 2:21, 22).
>
> God took a rib from Adam’s side. With that rib, He created a woman, the
> wife
> of the first man. Her name was Eve. God made only one wife for Adam. The
> man
> and his wife were to stand together and make a home together. The woman
> was
> not the servant of the man. They were to love and help each other like
> partners. God did not give Adam two or more wives. He did not give Eve
> many
> husbands. God did not make two men or two women as husband and wife. God’s
> plan is for one man who is the husband and one woman who is the wife.
>
> 3. Who did God say was to rule over the animals and plants?
>
> “Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our likeness. Let them RULE OVER the
> fish in the waters and the birds of the air. Let them RULE OVER the
> livestock and over the whole earth. Let them RULE OVER all of the
> creatures
> that move along the ground.’ So God created man in his own likeness. He
> created him in the likeness of God. He created them as male and female”
> (Genesis 1:26, 27).
>
> “Adam named his wife Eve. She would become the mother of every living
> person” (Genesis 3:20).
>
> The Bible tells us the names of the first man and the first woman. Adam
> and
> Eve were their names. They were made in the image or likeness of God. God
> told them to rule over the animals, plants, birds, and fishes.
>
> 4. What place did God give Adam and Eve for their home?
>
> “The LORD God had planted A GARDEN in the east. It was in EDEN. There he
> put
> the man he had formed. The LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of
> the
> ground. Their fruit was pleasing to look at and good to eat. The tree that
> gives life forever was in the middle of the garden. The tree that gives
> the
> ability to tell the difference between good and evil was also there. A
> river
> watered the garden. It flowed from Eden. . . . The LORD God put the man in
> the Garden of Eden. He put him there to work its ground and to take care
> of
> it” (Genesis 2:8-10, 15).
>
> 5. What was Adam and Eve told not to do?
>
> “The LORD God gave the man a command. He said, ‘You can eat the fruit of
> any
> tree that is in the garden. But YOU MUST NOT EAT THE FRUIT OF THE TREE OF
> THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL. If you do, you can be sure that you will
> die’”
> (Genesis 2:16, 17).
>
> The Lord gave Adam and Eve all the things they needed to make them happy.
> They could eat the fruit of every tree except one. This tree was called
> the
> “Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil”. God said that they would die if
> they ate the fruit of this tree. When a person disobeys God, he or she
> puts
> God out of his life, and death will come.
>
> God was good to Adam and Eve. He gave them everything they needed. He
> wanted
> Adam and Eve to love Him. They were to obey God because they loved Him.
>
>
> MAN’S FIRST SIN
> 6. Why did God put this tree in the garden?
>
> God does not force anyone to obey Him. God wants everyone to choose to
> obey
> Him. But Satan wants everyone to disobey God as Satan himself had done.
> God
> says that each person could choose (to do it or not to do it) for himself.
> God made man and woman so that he or she could choose to obey or disobey.
> God gives us the same choice today. We can choose to do what is right, or
> we
> can choose to do what is wrong. God did not want Adam and Eve to know
> about
> evil (bad things). But they chose to disobey God. They chose to eat the
> fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. This is how sin began
> on this earth.
>
> The devil or Satan spoke through the body of a serpent or snake. It was
> hidden in the tree where God told Adam and Eve not to eat its fruit. Read
> the story of how the devil told lies, and how Adam and Eve chose to
> disobey
> God.
>
> “The serpent [snake] said to the woman [Eve], ‘Did God really say, ‘You
> must
> not eat the fruit of any tree that is in the garden?’’ The woman said
> [answered] to the serpent, ‘We can eat the fruit of the trees that are in
> the garden, But God did say, ‘You must not eat the fruit of the tree that
> is
> in the middle of the garden. Do not even touch it. If you do, you will
> die.’’
> ‘You can be sure that you won’t die,’ the serpent said to the woman. ‘God
> knows that when you eat the fruit of that tree, you will know things you
> have never known before. You will be able to tell the difference between
> good and evil. You will be like God.’ The woman saw that the fruit of the
> tree was good to eat. It was also pleasing to look at. And it would make a
> person wise. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. She also gave some
> to
> her husband [Adam], who was with her. And he ate it” (Genesis 3:1-6).
>
> Read the next few verses in your Bible. Those verses tell us that Adam and
> Eve became ashamed. When God came to talk with them that evening, they ran
> away and hid in the forest of the garden. They knew they had disobeyed
> God.
> This made Adam and Eve feel guilty because they remembered that God loved
> them. When we do wrong things, we feel guilty. We are unhappy because we
> know we have done wrong.
>
> 7. Who was speaking through the serpent (snake)?
>
> “The great dragon was thrown down [from heaven] to the earth . . . that
> old
> SERPENT [SNAKE] called the DEVIL, or SATAN. He leads the whole world down
> the wrong path” (Revelation 12:9).
>
> Satan used the serpent (snake) that was hiding in the tree. Satan spoke
> through the serpent. Satan is the father of lies. He told Eve many lies.
> Adam and Eve chose to obey the devil instead of God, who loved them. They
> “joined” the side of the enemy.
>
> The angels of God became very sad because of Adam and Eve’s disobedience
> and
> that they believed Satan’s lies. Adam and Eve were given the earth to
> rule.
> God said it belonged to them. When they chose to obey Satan, he became the
> ruler of this earth. He has stolen man’s (Adam’s) place. Sin has brought
> unhappiness to man.
>
>
> THE PROMISE OF A SAVIOUR
> 8. God came down to talk with Adam and Eve. What promise did He give them?
>
> “I will put hatred between you [the serpent or Satan] and the woman [Eve].
> Your children and her children will be enemies. HER SON [JESUS] WILL CRUSH
> YOUR HEAD, and you [Satan] will crush his heel” (Genesis 3:15).
>
> The words in brackets [ xxx ] will help you understand the text better.
> God
> said there would be war between right and wrong. Satan would make trouble
> for God’s people. Yet, God promised He would send His Son to the family of
> man to be their Savior. This is Christ, who overcame Satan and will
> destroy
> him someday. The devil tried to spoil Jesus’ work. He tried to kill Him
> and
> make Him suffer. But Jesus won the war. God promised Adam and Eve that He
> would SEND A SAVIOR. All this is written above in the wonderful prophecy
> of
> Genesis 3:15.
>
> 9. What did Isaiah prophesy about this Savior?
>
> “A child will be born to us. A SON WILL BE GIVEN to us. He will rule over
> us. And he will be called Wonderful Adviser and Mighty God. He will also
> be
> called Father Who Lives Forever and PRINCE WHO BRINGS PEACE” (Isaiah 9:6).
>
> Isaiah wrote this prophecy about 700 years before Christ was born. People
> were looking for the promised Savior, the Deliverer, and the Prince who
> brings peace. This Savior was to be a “Son” or “a child.” God had promised
> the Son in Genesis. The Savior would make His people free. He would bring
> peace.
>
> 10. When did God make His plan to save man?
>
> “Look! The Lamb of God! He takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29).
>
> “The Lamb whose death was planned BEFORE THE WORLD WAS CREATED”
> (Revelation
> 13:8).
>
> Jesus is called the “Lamb” of God. Before man first sinned, God the Father
> and Jesus the Son had this plan: if anyone ever sinned, Jesus would come
> to
> earth. He would give His life to pay the penalty of sin. We are all
> sinners.
> When we sin, we will die. We should all die eternally but Jesus saved us
> by
> dying for us on the cross and paid the price for our sins.
>
>
> THE SAVIOR COMES!
> 11. What message did an angel bring to earth just before Jesus Christ was
> born?
>
> “She is going to have a son. You must give him the name Jesus. That is
> because HE WILL SAVE HIS PEOPLE FROM their sins” (Matthew 1:21).
>
> Jesus! That wonderful name means “Savior.” For thousands of years the
> world
> waited for this Savior. At last, the promised Son, the Child came to save
> this world from sin. Jesus had a mother on earth (Mary) but He did not
> have
> an earthly father. His real Father was God, not Joseph. Jesus is Son of
> man
> and Son of God. God became man in Jesus. This is why Jesus is able to
> bring
> heaven and earth together.
>
> 12. When He was a child, did Jesus know He had a special work to do?
>
> “And the child grew and became strong. He was VERY WISE. He was blessed by
> God’s grace. . . . ‘Why were you looking for me?’ he asked. ‘Didn’t you
> know
> I HAD TO BE IN MY FATHER’S HOUSE?’” (Luke 2:40, 49).
>
> When He was only twelve-years old, Jesus knew He had a big work to do. He
> knew He must die in the place of man. Jesus came to save all who take Him
> as
> their Savior.
>
> “But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of
> great joy. It is for ALL THE PEOPLE’” (Luke 2:10).
>
> 13. When Jesus was baptized, how did God tell the world that He was His
> Son?
>
> “As soon as Jesus was baptized, he came up out of the water. At that
> moment
> heaven was opened. Jesus saw the Spirit of God coming down on him like a
> dove. And A VOICE FROM HEAVEN SAID, ‘THIS IS MY SON, AND I LOVE HIM. I am
> very pleased with him’” (Matthew 3:16, 17).
>
> Before Jesus began to preach, teach, and heal the sick, He was baptized.
> At
> His baptism, God the Father spoke these wonderful words, “This is my Son,
> and I love him. I am very pleased with him.”
>
> Jesus worked among the people for three and a half years. Everywhere He
> went, Christ preached to the people. He taught them about God, He showed
> them how to live good lives. He was the greatest teacher the world has
> ever
> known.
>
>
> JESUS’ DEATH & VICTORY ON THE CROSS
> 14. What did the people want to do to Jesus near the end of His life?
>
> “The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin [Jewish court of law] were
> looking for something to use [or to falsely blame] against Jesus. They
> wanted to PUT HIM TO DEATH. . . . It was early in the morning. All the
> chief
> priests and the elders of the people decided to put Jesus to death. . . .
> Then they TWISTED THORNS TOGETHER TO MAKE A CROWN. They placed it on his
> head. They put a stick in his right hand. Then they fell on their knees in
> front of him and MADE FUN OF HIM. ‘We honor you, king of the Jews!’ they
> said. They SPIT ON HIM. They HIT HIM on the head. . . . Then they led Him
> away to nail Him to a cross. Above his head they placed the written charge
> against him. It read, ‘THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS’ (Matthew
> 26:59;
> 27:1, 29-31, 37).
>
> They crucified Him (nailed Him to the cross)! This is the saddest picture
> in
> the whole world! The church leaders of Jesus’ day hated Him. They hated
> Him
> because His pure life showed the sins in their lives. They hated Jesus
> because so many people loved Him. The leaders were afraid that the people
> would follow Jesus, and not follow them. So they nailed Jesus to the
> cross.
> They did not know that Jesus’ death on the cross would make Him the Savior
> of men, women and children. Because He died on the cross, our sins may be
> forgiven. Jesus chose to die for us. Through His death, eternal life is
> promised to us. Anyone who accepts Jesus as their Savior will be saved.
>
> 15. What other things did Jesus do for us?
>
> “Then I heard a loud voice in heaven. It said, ‘Now the salvation and the
> power and the kingdom of our God have come. The authority of his Christ
> has
> come. Satan, WHO BRINGS CHARGES AGAINST our brothers and sisters, HAS BEEN
> THROWN DOWN. He brings charges against them before our God day and night’”
> (Revelation 12:10).
>
> Man lost his right to rule this world because of Adam’s sin. By His death,
> Jesus bought back or redeemed what man had lost through sin. In this way,
> the Bible says Satan is cast down. Satan no longer had the right to rule
> this world because Jesus redeemed the world. Money could not buy us back.
> Jesus, the One who had never sinned in His life, had to die for us. His
> death bought us back. This is wonderful love. Let us not forget this
> wonderful love!
>
> 16. What power is given to Jesus?
>
> “I am the Living One. I was dead. But look! I am alive for ever and ever!
> And I HOLD THE KEYS TO DEATH and HELL [or the GRAVE]” (Revelation 1:18).
>
> Jesus is a wonderful Savior. We should worship and give thanks to Him and
> do
> what He asks us to do every day. He was in heaven in the beginning. He
> came
> to earth as a baby. He lived His life without sinning. He paid the price
> of
> our sin. He took our place and died for us. God raised Jesus to life
> again.
> He is now in heaven. He lives to help His followers here on earth. Jesus
> has
> power over death. He will come again soon. He has promised to bring from
> their graves the people who believe in Him.
>
> 17. When we tell Jesus we are sorry for our sins, what will He do?
>
> “But God is faithful and fair. If we admit that we have sinned, he will
> FORGIVE US OUR SINS. He will forgive every wrong thing we have done. He
> will
> MAKE US PURE” (1 John 1:9).
>
> What a wonderful promise! Jesus wants all of us to confess (to say we are
> sorry for) our wrongs and sins to Him. He will forgive us when we confess
> our sins. No matter how small or big mistakes you have made, He will
> forgive
> you and save you. You can take your sins to Jesus right now at this very
> moment today. You do not need a minister, priest or anyone to help you. It
> is only between Jesus and you. Just tell Him you are sorry, and ask Him to
> forgive you.
>
> 18. What is Jesus doing now?
>
> “Now Jesus is Prince and SAVIOR. God has proved this by giving him a place
> of honor at his own right hand. He did it so that he could TURN ISRAEL
> AWAY
> FROM THEIR SINS and FORGIVE THEM” (Acts 5:31).
>
> “I am going there [heaven] to PREPARE A PLACE FOR YOU. If I go and do
> that,
> I will come back. And I will take you to be with me. Then you will also be
> where I am” (John 14:2, 3).
>
> Jesus is now in heaven with God the Father. He is preparing a place for
> the
> people who love Him. He will TAKE THEM TO BE WITH HIM forever. What a
> wonderful thing to think about! Eternal life in heaven with Jesus! There
> will be no more tears, evil, sin, sickness, deafness, disabilities or
> death.
> All of us will be able to SEE and HEAR Jesus tell us the wonderful story
> of
> salvation. Jesus asks you to give your life to Him. He is waiting to

> you and save you from sin. Will you come to Him now? He died to save you;
