> 5. How To Be Saved
> 1. What did Paul say sin is like?
>
> “What a terrible failure I am! Who will save me from this sin that brings
> death to my body?” (Romans 7:24).
>
> How can we be saved from sin? First, we must know how bad sin is. We must
> understand we are sinners; we have sinned and we do need help. Because we
> sin, we will die.
>
> Hundreds of years ago, when a man killed another man, his punishment was
> to
> be tied to the dead body of the man he killed. Wherever he goes, he has
> the
> dead body still tied to him and would follow him everywhere he goes. This
> was a slow and horrible way to die. The body would make the man sick and
> soon he will die.
>
> Paul says his sins were like dragging around a dead body. If we stay tied
> to
> our sin, we will be like this man. One day our sins will bring us eternal
> death. To be saved, we must have help to stop sinning. We need to stay
> away
> from sin. When you understand you need help to stop sinning, you already
> took the first step to being saved. Jesus will help you when you ask for
> His
> help.
>
>
> BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS ABLE TO SAVE
> 2. What is the most important question in the world? What is the answer to
> this great question?
>
> “The jailer . . . rushed in, shaking with fear. He fell down in front of
> Paul and Silas. . . . He asked, ‘Sirs, WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?’ They
> replied, ‘BELIEVE IN THE LORD JESUS. Then you and your family will be
> saved’”
> (Acts 16:29-31).
>
> This is the story of a prison guard. He knew he was a sinner. He knew he
> was
> not saved. He knew he needed God to help him. Because he knew he needed a
> Savior, he asked Paul and his friend, Silas, “What must I do to be saved?”
> Our Lord Jesus and Savior, always loves to hear prayers like that.
>
> Paul and Silas gave their answer. It is the only answer to a question that
> many people ask. He said, “Believe in the LORD JESUS and you will be
> saved.”
> Only Jesus can save. God will save the people who believe in Him.
>
>
> REPENTANCE
> 3. What is the next step in to be saved?
>
> “SO TURN AWAY [REPENT] FROM YOUR SINS. Turn to God. Then your sins will be
> wiped away” (Acts 3:19).
>
> Many people had heard Peter preach about Jesus. They wanted to know how to
> be saved. Peter told them to “repent.” This is the next step in being
> saved.
>
> “Repent” means to turn from your old ways of sin. Sin leads to death.
> Romans
> 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death” (NKJV). When you choose Jesus
> as
> your personal Savior, Jesus will give you a change of heart, a new way of
> thinking. You turn around and go in a different path. You think about
> eternal life. It is easy to repent if you have Jesus’ help. Choose to obey
> God and do what is right, and then Jesus will help you turn from your old
> ways of sin.
>
>
> CONFESSION - MAKING THINGS RIGHT
> 4. After we repent, what should be our next step?
>
> “Admit to the Lord that you have sinned. Tell the God of your people what
> you have done” (Ezra 10:11).
>
> “But God is faithful and fair. If we admit that we have sinned, he will
> FORGIVE US OUR SINS. He will forgive every wrong thing we have done. He
> will
> MAKE US PURE” (1 John 1:9).
>
> Confess (admit) your sins to God. Tell God the things that you have done
> wrong. Ask Him to forgive you. He promises to forgive every sin. He will
> make your life clean and right.
>
> Maybe you have never confessed your sins before. NOW, this is a good time
> to
> bow your head or kneel in prayer. You do not have to wait. You do not need
> to wait for a pastor, priest or another person to help you. God will
> forgive
> you right now. Go ahead and ask God to forgive your sins. Confession means
> asking God to forgive your sins. This is a very important step in being
> saved.
>
> 5. If we have done wrong to some person, what should we do?
>
> “So ADMIT TO ONE ANOTHER that you have sinned” (James 5:16).
>
> If you have stolen anything from a person, if you have told lies about
> someone, or if you have hurt somebody, you must confess to that person you
> did wrong. Go to the person you have stolen from, lied about, or hurt, and
> tell them what you have done. Say you are sorry and make it right with
> them.
> Give back what you have stolen. Tell the truth. Try to make everything
> right. Ask the person to whom you have done wrong to forgive you. Ask God
> to
> forgive you for doing wrong to this person.
>
>
> GOD FORGIVES
> 6. What does God promise to do with the sins we confess?
>
> “Once again you will show loving concern for us. You will completely WIPE
> OUT THE EVIL THINGS we have done. You will THROW ALL OF OUR SINS INTO THE
> BOTTOM OF THE SEA” (Micah 7:19).
>
> Yes, God loves you. He promises to forgive your sins. He blots them out.
> He
> remembers them no more. It will be the same as if He had thrown your sins
> into a very deep sea. In some places, the sea is seven miles deep! Things
> dropped into a deep sea cannot be found. God remembers your sins no more
> against you. He forgives you and takes your sins away.
>
> 7. When we repent, what does GOD do with our sins?
>
> “I am the one who WIPES OUT YOUR LAWLESS [SINFUL] ACTS. I do it because of
> who I am. I will NOT REMEMBER YOUR SINS ANYMORE” (Isaiah 43:25).
>
> “Blessed are they whose LAWLESS [SINFUL] ACTS ARE FORGIVEN. Blessed are
> those whose SINS ARE TAKEN AWAY” (Romans 4:7).
>
> God forgives our sins because Jesus died for us. He promises, “I will
> remember your sins no more.” Yes, God forgives and forgets. God wipes out
> the past and lets us start a new life. We stand before God just as if we
> had
> not sinned.
>
> 8. How can we KNOW our sins are forgiven?
>
> “We live by BELIEVING [FAITH], not by seeing” (2 Corinthians 5:7).
>
> “We have been made right with God because of our faith. Now we have peace
> with him because of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1).
>
> By faith, we know our sins are forgiven. God says He forgives them. We
> have
> faith when we believe that God has done what He says. Believing God is
> faith. Jesus says He will forgive your sins. You must believe this.
>
> Some people ask God to forgive them. Then they say, “I do not feel any
> different.” It does not matter if you do not feel any different. God never
> lies. When God says, “I forgive you,” it is His promise to us. We must
> believe His promise because God always does what He promises us. We may
> not
> feel different right away when we confess our sins. But because God has
> promised to forgive us, we can believe in His promise.
>
> When you repent, you are forgiven. Do not let Satan make you think that
> your
> sins are not forgiven. God will forgive any sin that we confess to Him.
> God
> promises to forgive you.
>
> A minister’s son wandered away from home. He once lived a good healthy
> life
> but now he lives in a life of sin. He used to do some wonderful things in
> the world, but over the years, he allowed himself to slip down to the
> lowest
> places. He became an alcoholic and a drug addict.
>
> After fifteen long years, he began to study God’s Word. Soon he decided to
> follow Jesus and changed his life. When he returned home, he found that
> his
> poor mother had died of a broken heart many years ago. Yet his father had
> kept a lighted lamp by the window all night every night until the son came
> home.
>
> God is our Father. He has a light in His window for us all His wandering
> children. While that lamp is burning, the sinner may see the light and
> return to Him. Won’t you come back now? God will forgive you.
>
>
> ALL MAY BE SAVED IF THEY WANT TO BE
> 9. Will Jesus save anyone who repents?
>
> “I WILL NEVER SEND AWAY anyone who comes to Me” (John 6:37).
>
> “The Holy Spirit and the bride say, ‘COME!’ . . . Anyone WHO WANTS to take
> the free gift of the water of life should do so” (Revelation 22:17).
>
> These are very important texts. Any person who comes to Jesus will be
> saved.
> If you want to come to Jesus, then come to Him. He will welcome you. He
> forgives the past and makes you strong to live right in the future.
>
> Many people think there is no hope for them. They think that their sins
> are
> too bad or too many. They pray, but they feel God has not heard them
> because
> their sins are so bad. But God does hear them. If a person wants to come
> to
> God, He will accept him. It does not matter how bad their sins have been.
> The door of heaven is always open. God is speaking to the hearts of men
> and
> women all the time.
>
> Jesus says, “Whosoever will may come.” Satan says to us, “You are bad,
> Jesus
> will not forgive you.” Do not believe Satan when he says these things to
> you. Jesus says to you, “Give Me your heart.” Give your heart to Jesus
> now,
> and let Him guide your life. He will help you do what is right.
>
>
> LIVING FOR JESUS
> 10. After we turn from our sins, what does God tell us to do?
>
> “The Lord has shown you what is good. He has told you what he requires of
> you. You must TREAT PEOPLE FAIRLY. You must LOVE OTHERS FAITHFULLY. And
> you
> must be very careful to LIVE THE WAY YOUR GOD WANTS you to” (Micah 6:8).
>
> To live for God, we turn from our old life of sin. Stop doing bad habits
> and
> the wrong things you did before. Now God tells you to keep doing right
> things. Walk in the road He tells you to follow in the Bible.
>
> 11. What does God want His children to do?
>
> “My dear children, I’m writing this to you so that YOU WILL NOT SIN” (1
> John
> 2:1).
>
> “Those who claim to belong to him [Jesus] must LIVE JUST AS JESUS DID” (1
> John 2:6).
>
> “Suppose someone says, ‘I know him.’ But suppose that person does not do
> what God commands. Then that person is a liar and is not telling the
> truth”
> (1 John 2:4).
>
> “We know that we have come to know God if we OBEY HIS COMMANDS
> [COMMANDMENTS]” (1 John 2:3).
>
> If you are going to live for Jesus, you must walk with Him. We walk with
> Jesus when we keep His commandments. We keep His commandments because we
> love Him. If you want to be saved, you must love Jesus and obey Him.
>
>
> THINGS THAT HELP US TO BE TRUE CHRISTIANS
> 12. Where may we learn what Jesus taught? How can we live without sinning?
>
> “I have hidden YOUR WORD in my heart so that I won’t sin against you”
> (Psalm
> 119:11).
>
> “How can a young person keep his life pure? By living in keeping with YOUR
> WORD” (Psalm 119:9).
>
> “THE WORDS I have spoken to you are from the Spirit. They give life” (John
> 6:63).
>
> God’s Word, the Bible, tells us how we are to live for Jesus. Read and
> study
> what God teaches in the Bible. Follow everything what the Bible teaches.
> In
> the last judgment, in the court of heaven, we shall be judged by what is
> taught in the Bible.
>
> 13. Many people know some things are right. Is it wrong when we do not do
> the things we know are right?
>
> “So when you KNOW the good things you should do and DON’T DO them, you
> sin”
> (James 4:17).
>
> Learn what God wants us to do. Study the Bible; it will show you what is
> right and what is wrong. When we know a thing is right, we are to do it.
> If
> a thing is wrong, we are not to do it. That would be sin. When we do all
> that we know is right, God is pleased. The Bible shows us what is right.
> As
> we study, the road to heaven is made clear to us.
>
> 14. What must we do if we want to live a Christian life?
>
> “Never stop praying” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
>
> “Jesus told his disciples a story. He wanted to show them that they should
> always PRAY and not give up” (Luke 18:1).
>
> Prayer is talking to Jesus. He wants us to talk with Him. Every true
> prayer
> to Jesus is heard. Pray often every day. This will make you strong to live
> for Christ. Tell Jesus about your troubles and sadness. Also tell Him the
> things that make you happy. He will hear and help you.
>
> A prayer many people know is found in Matthew 6:9-13. It is called the
> Lord’s
> Prayer because Jesus taught this to his disciples. It is easy to remember.
>
> “Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be [Holy is] Your name. Your kingdom come.
> Your will [plan] be done. On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day
> our
> daily bread [food]. And forgive us our debts [sins], as we forgive our
> debtors [people who sin against us]. And do not lead us into temptation,
> but
> deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and
> the
> glory forever. Amen.” (NKJV)
>
> Give your heart to Jesus now. Start today to follow Jesus. It may not be
> easy. You may make mistakes, but go to God in prayer. God will forgive
> your
> mistakes and help you to go on. When you were a baby learning to walk, you
> often fell down. But you as the baby do not stay on the ground. You get up
> and try again. God will help us if we fall down or sin. We are to keep
> trying. Keep trying to do right. Ask Jesus to help you. He says, “Be
> faithful, even if it means you must die. Then I will give you a crown. The
> crown is life itself” (Revelation 2:10, NKJV).
>
> LET US PRAY THIS PRAYER:
>
> “Dear Jesus, I thank You for giving Your life for me. Hear my prayers.
> Teach
> me to obey You. Please save me in Your kingdom. Amen.”
