FREE TO WORSHIP!

When the ark of the LORD came to the City of David, Saul's daughter Michal
looked out of a window and saw King David leaping and dancing in the LORD's
presence,
so she despised him.
When David returned to bless his family, Saul's daughter Michal came out to
meet him. "How dignified Israel's king was today! He was exposing himself before
the eyes of the slave girls of his palace staff - like a mindless fool might
expose himself!"
David answered Michal, "I didn't dance in front of the slave girls but in front
of the LORD. He chose me rather than your father or anyone in your father's
house, and he appointed me leader of Israel, the LORD's people. I will
celebrate in the LORD's presence,
and I will degrade myself even more than this. Even if I am humiliated in your
eyes, I will be honored by these slave girls you speak about."
So Saul's daughter Michal was childless her entire life.
2 Samuel 6:16, 20-23

King David was definitely a man after God's heart. He worshiped Him! He didn't
care what anyone else thought - He danced before the Lord and didn't worry
about what other folks thought; his wife did.

A man we called "Van" was one of the coffeehouse regulars. Van loves the Lord.
He's a little bit different that most people and that makes him special.
Well, when we had a special concert to raise money for the ministry several
years ago, Van came to the concert; expecting to be at the coffeehouse. So,
even though the concert was in the worship center he just behaved like he did
in the coffeehouse - he danced. As a result, even though the crowd was extremely
small the quartet said they received a blessing.

Van didn't go to the extreme that King David did. According to what I've been
told, King David was dancing "naked" in the streets - all he had around him
was a shawl! With all my heart I believe King David's whole point was that he
was nothing without the Lord. Maybe he was thinking about Job's statement
that he came into the world naked and he would go out of this world naked.
David knew that God accepted him and loved him and this was the only way He
knew he could show the people that it was God's might and power that had
delivered the arc back to them.

Many people just are not comfortable raising their hands in praise to God and
they aren't comfortable with anyone else doing it either. Well, let me tell
you, as a person who has been on both sides, something incredible happens
within me every time I move into the freedom of raising my hands in praise to
God!

I believe God didn't allow Michal to have children because she complained about
God's anointed one! It is just not a good thing to do. Now, let's take this
a step further. Since we have the blood of Jesus Christ as our covering - we
are His anointed ones as well. So, if you see one of God's anointed ones
praising
Him - no matter the form - don't speak against it. God will take the blessing
He had for you and give it to the one who is praising Him!

Lord, many times we don't understand Your ways. We don't understand why
worshiping You releases blessings into our lives, but I am glad it does. I thank
You and praise You that You have never called me to dance before you naked and
I know other people are too! However, I thank You for the freedom You have
given me to raise my hands, get on my face, and simply praise You from my
heart! Keep me free!
