IN LO-DEBAR

David asked, "Is there anyone left in Saul's family to whom I can show kindness
for Jonathan's sake?".
David asked, "Is there someone left in Saul's family to whom I can show God's
kindness?"
"Jonathan has a son who is disabled," Ziba answered.
"Where is he?" the king asked.
Ziba replied, "He is at the home of Machir, Ammiel's son, in Lo Debar."
So King David sent men to get him from the home of Ammiel's son Machir in Lo
Debar. When Mephibosheth (son of Jonathan and grandson of Saul) came to David,
he quickly bowed down with his face touching the ground.
"Mephibosheth!" David said to him.
"Yes, sir," he answered.
"Don't be afraid," David told him, "I will certainly show you kindness for your
father Jonathan's sake. I will give back to you all the land of your grandfather
Saul, and you will always eat at my table.".
However, Mephibosheth, who was disabled, lived in Jerusalem. He always ate at
the king's table.
2 Samuel 9:1, 3-7, 13

Have you been to Lo-debar? No, I don't actually mean the physical place, I mean
an emotional or spiritual Lo-debar; a place where you give up? Many of us
have been there and many of us are still there, but there is hope. God will
bring us out.

Mephibosheth was Saul's only remaining heir. According to our standards today,
and even back then, he should have inherited all that David owned. However,
because of his grandfather's sin and fear, Mephibosheth was penniless and
crippled. Yet, King David was God's servant and represented grace and mercy
toward
this man.

In those days crippled people were looked down on even worse than they are
today. They weren't even allowed in the Temple. However, King David brought him
to the palace and allowed him to eat at his table. I don't know about you - but
this just makes me want to cry and shout praises to our God!

God prepares a table for us in the presence of our enemies. He wants us to come
out of Lo-debar and let Him shower His love and kindness on us.

Have a great rest of the week - just think - the weekend is just one day away!

Father, again I praise You and thank You for grace. I thank You too for
weekends - for a time to clean, cook, shop, spend quality time with our
families,
and prepare for Sunday. For those who remain in Lo-debar today, I pray You will
give them the strength and presence of mind to rise up and walk. We need
Your grace to make it Lord.
