> 7. God's New World
>
> 1. Why did God create this world?
>
> “The LORD created . . . the earth and made it. He didn’t [did not] create
> it
> to be empty. Instead he formed it FOR PEOPLE TO LIVE ON” (Isaiah 45:18).
>
> God called Adam and Eve’s home the Garden of Eden. Eden was supposed to be
> everyone’s home but Adam and Eve sinned and spoiled God’s plan. Now God
> wants to give us another beautiful home. He wants the world to be the same
> way it was in the beginning.
>
> “I WILL CREATE NEW HEAVENS AND A NEW EARTH” (Isaiah 65:17).
>
> “I will make their deserts like Eden. I will make their dry and empty land
> like my very own garden. Joy and gladness will be there. People will sing
> and give thanks to me” (Isaiah 51:3).
>
> God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. In Micah 4:8 we read,
> “Unto thee (you) shall it come, even the FIRST dominion” (KJV). This means
> that Eden will be given back to us. The first Eden was lost through Adam
> and
> Eve’s sin. The new Eden will be given to us if we let Jesus save us from
> sin. Let us thank God for this. God will change our wicked (bad) world
> into
> a beautiful place. Everyone will always be happy there.
>
> 2. What did Peter look for in the future?
>
> “WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO A NEW HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH. . . . All of this
> is in keeping with God’s promise” (2 Peter 3:13).
>
> Our old world will be made new again. The first three chapters of the
> Bible
> tell us about the Garden of Eden and the beginning of sin. The last three
> chapters of the Bible in Revelation (20-22) tells us about the end of sin
> and the beautiful home God will give to us.
>
> 3. Where will God’s people live forever?
>
> “Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed [paid back] IN THE EARTH”
> (Proverbs 11:31, KJV).
>
> “Blessed are the meek [humble], for they will inherit [live in] THE EARTH”
> (Matthew 5:5, KJV).
>
> The righteous people are those who follow God’s way. God’s people will
> live
> here on this earth. After this earth is made new, it will become THE HOME
> OF
> THE RIGHTEOUS. In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus spoke about this. He told us to
> pray, “Thy will be done IN EARTH, as it is in heaven.” When the earth is
> made new again, it will be given back to us. That day is coming!
>
>
> WHERE IS PARADISE NOW?
> 4. What is Jesus preparing for His people?
>
> “There are many rooms in my Father’s house. If this were not true, I would
> have told you. I am going there to PREPARE A PLACE FOR YOU. If I go and do
> that, I will come back. And I will take you to be with me. Then you will
> also be where I am” (John 14:2, 3).
>
> Jesus is now with His Father in heaven. He is preparing beautiful homes
> (rooms) for His people in New Jerusalem.
>
> 5. What is found in paradise (heaven)?
>
> “I will allow those who overcome to eat from THE TREE OF LIFE in God’s
> paradise” (Revelation 2:7).
>
> God put the tree of life in the Garden of Eden. When Adam and Eve began to
> sin, they had to move out of Eden and stay away from the tree of life. In
> heaven, we shall eat of this tree. God still wants His people to eat from
> the tree of life in Paradise. It is near the throne of God.
>
> “Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life. It was as clear
> as
> crystal. It flowed from the throne of God and of the Lamb. It flowed down
> the middle of the city’s main street. On each side of the river STOOD THE
> TREE OF LIFE, bearing TWELVE CROPS OF FRUIT. Its fruit was ripe every
> month.
> The leaves of the tree bring healing to the nations. . . . The throne of
> God
> and of the Lamb will be in the city” (Revelation 22:1-3).
>
> In Revelation 21:2 the Holy City that will come down from heaven is called
> the “New Jerusalem.” The throne, where God sits as King of the universe,
> is
> in the middle of the New Jerusalem. The Bible says Jesus will be there.
>
> From under the throne of God, there flows a cool, clear river of water. On
> each side of this wonderful river grows the tree of life. In some parts of
> the world, there are great trees with many trunks. Sometimes one part of
> the
> tree is on one side of a road and another part is on the other side, with
> the branches joining above. The tree of life is like this. This beautiful
> tree stretches across the river of life. You can be one of those happy
> people who will eat the fruit from this tree. People who eat this fruit
> will
> never die. There are twelve different kinds of fruit on this tree – one
> fruit for each month of the year.
>
>
> THAT BEAUTIFUL CITY
> 6. What does the Bible say about New Jerusalem?
>
> “He showed me Jerusalem, the Holy City. It was coming down out of heaven
> from God. It shone with the glory of God. It gleamed like a very valuable
> jewel. It was like a jasper, as clear as crystal. The city had a huge high
> wall with 12 gates. Twelve angels were at the gates. . . . The wall of the
> city had 12 foundations. . . . The city was laid out like a square. It was
> as long as it was wide. The angel measured the city with the rod. It was
> 1,400 miles [or 2,200 kilometers] long. It was as wide and high as it was
> long” (Revelation 21:10-16).
>
> The city is square. Each side of the city is 350 miles (or 550 kilometers)
> long. The four walls of the city is 1,400 miles all the way around. This
> city is bigger than the whole state of Oregon. This is bigger than any
> city
> on earth. It will be plenty of room for all the people who are saved.
> There
> will be a place in it for you.
>
> “The 12 gates were made from 12 pearls. Each gate was made out of a single
> pearl. The main street of the city was made out of pure gold, as clear as
> glass” (Revelation 21:21).
>
> 7. Will anyone be afraid in that city?
>
> “And no one will make them afraid” (Jeremiah 30:10).
>
> “The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it. God’s glory is
> its light, and THE LAMB IS ITS LAMP” (Revelation 21:23).
>
> After the earth is made clean by fire, the New Jerusalem comes down from
> God. It rests on the earth. Jesus promised, “Those who are free of pride .
> .
> . will be given the earth” (Matthew 5:5). This promise will become true
> when
> the city rests on the earth. The Holy City will be on this earth forever.
> This earth will be the home of God’s people. God will live with His
> people.
> This earth will be the capitol of God’s government for the whole universe.
> Those who are saved will live in the beautiful new earth. This is how God
> will give back Eden to His people.
>
>
> THE HOLY CITY COMES DOWN TO EARTH
> 8. How will the earth be cleaned of sin?
>
> “FIRE WILL DESTROY EVERYTHING in them [on earth]. But we are looking
> forward
> to a new heaven and a new earth. Godliness will make its home there. All
> of
> this is in keeping with God’s promise” (2 Peter 3:10, 13).
>
> Jesus has promised to come back. He will take His people to heaven. Later,
> this earth will be cleaned by fire. The earth will be made new. It will be
> clean and beautiful. There will be no more sin. Everything that reminds us
> of sin will be destroyed.
>
> 9. What will come to the earth from heaven?
>
> “I saw the HOLY CITY, THE NEW JERUSALEM. IT WAS COMING DOWN out of heaven
> from God. . . . Now God makes his home with people. HE WILL LIVE WITH
> THEM.
> They will be HIS people. And God himself will be with them and be their
> God”
> (Revelation 21:2, 3).
>
> God has promised, “Those who are free of [have no] pride will be given the
> earth.” This earth will become the home of God’s people. God HIMSELF will
> live with them. The Holy City (New Jerusalem) will be on this earth
> forever.
> God’s people will live on the new earth forever.
>
>
> LIFE ON THE NEW EARTH
> 10. What will we do in the new earth?
>
> “I will create new heavens and a new earth. The things that have happened
> before [on this earth] will not be remembered. They will not even enter
> your
> minds. . . . My people will BUILD HOUSES and live in them. They will PLANT
> VINEYARDS and eat their fruit” (Isaiah 65:17, 21).
>
> Everything that we need will be there. We can build our own houses. If we
> plant a garden, we will be able to eat the fruit from it. No bugs or
> diseases will spoil our garden. No one will take it away from us, or steal
> the food. The new earth will be a real place with real live people doing
> real fun things. We will be much happier in the new earth than we will
> ever
> know here on this earth. This happiness will last forever. David says,
> “You
> will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your
> right
> hand” (Psalm 16:11).
>
> 11. Will people know each other in heaven?
>
> “’Look at my hands and my feet. It is really I! Touch me and see. A ghost
> does not have a body or bones. But you can see that I do.’ . . . So Jesus
> asked them, ‘Do you have anything here to eat?’ They gave him a piece of
> cooked fish. He took it and ate it in front of them” (Luke 24:39-43).
>
> Luke 24:39-43 tells us what Jesus was like after His resurrection. The
> disciples could see Him. They touched and felt His hands and His feet. He
> was a real person, not a spirit. He was hungry and ate some food.
>
> “But we know that when Christ appears, WE WILL BE LIKE HIM” (1 John 3:2).
>
> “Now we see only a dim likeness of things. It is as if we were seeing them
> in a mirror. But someday we will see clearly. We will see face to face. .
> .
> . BUT SOMEDAY I WILL KNOW COMPLETELY, JUST AS GOD KNOWS ME COMPLETELY” (1
> Corinthians 13:12).
>
> People in heaven will be real. They will have bodies, but they will never
> die. They will be able to eat, drink, feel, and enjoy the good things in
> the
> new earth. We will be perfect in heaven. We will know our friends in
> heaven.
> Paul says, “But someday I will know completely, just as God knows me
> completely” (1 Corinthians 13:12). Here on earth we know people by the way
> they talk or the way they sign, their faces, the way they walk, their
> handshake, and by many other ways. In heaven, we shall know our friends
> the
> same way and they will know us. In heaven, our bodies will not become
> sick.
> We will become stronger. We will not sin. But we will still know our
> family
> and friends just like we do today.
>
> 12. What does the Bible say about the animals in the new earth?
>
> “WOLVES and LAMBS will eat together. LIONS will eat straw like OXEN. . . .
> None of those animals will harm or destroy anything or anyone on my holy
> mountain of Zion [heaven]” (Isaiah 65:25).
>
> “LEOPARDS will lie down with GOATS. CALVES and LIONS will eat together.
> And
> little children will lead them around. COWS will eat with BEARS. Their
> little ones will lie down together. . . . None of those animals will harm
> or
> destroy anything or anyone on my holy mountain of Zion [heaven]” (Isaiah
> 11:6, 7, 9).
>
> In the new earth, the animals will not be dangerous and wild. On this
> earth,
> wolves kill and eat lambs, and leopards kill young goats. On the new
> earth,
> they will eat grass and not kill each other. Children will play with them
> and will not be hurt. The animals will be our friends as they were in
> Eden.
> Man will rule over them with wisdom.
>
>
> THE END OF SICKNESS AND SORROW
> 13. When Jesus comes for His people, what troubles will come to an end?
>
> “Then the EYES of those who are BLIND will be opened. The EARS of those
> who
> CAN’T HEAR [deaf] will be unplugged [opened]. Those who CAN’T WALK will
> LEAP
> LIKE A DEER. And those who CAN’T [can not] SPEAK will SHOUT WITH JOY”
> (Isaiah 35:5, 6).
>
> “NO ONE living in Zion [heaven] WILL EVER SAY AGAIN, ‘I’M SICK’” (Isaiah
> 33:24).
>
> A man lay sick in hospital. He could not move his hands or feet, or turn
> his
> head. He had been like this for 42 years, since he was ten days old. When
> the minister told him about heaven by reading these verses, he became very
> happy. He said: “Heaven will be wonderful. I can be happy there.”
>
> Are you glad Jesus will come to end all sickness and death? In the new
> earth, there will be no more sickness. There will be no more pain. We will
> be able to hear music and talk with all of our families and friends. No
> one
> will ever grow old or die. Jesus will end all of our troubles and
> sickness.
>
> 14. How will Jesus bring eternal happiness to the people He saved?
>
> “He [Jesus] will WIPE AWAY EVERY TEAR from their eyes. There will be NO
> MORE
> DEATH or SADNESS. There will be no more CRYING or PAIN. Things are NO
> LONGER
> the way they used to be” (Revelation 21:4).
>
> On that happy day, Jesus will wipe all tears away. There will be no more
> sadness. I want to be there! Do you? Now is the time to get ready. Now is
> the time to obey God.
>
> 15. Who will be able to enter the Holy City?
>
> “Blessed are those who DO HIS COMMANDMENTS, that they may have the right
> to
> the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city”
> (Revelation
> 22:14, NKJV).
>
> Some people will not go to heaven or enter the Holy City. Only those who
> become the children of God can enter. Only people who obey God’s
> commandments will enter the eternal home. If we want to walk with Jesus in
> that city, we must walk with Him now, today. Take Jesus into your heart
> today and walk with Him.
>
> “Those who claim to belong to him must live as Jesus did” (1 John 2:6).
>
>
> THE LESSON IN A FEW WORDS
> 1.. Satan brought sin into this world. He spoiled the beautiful garden of
> God. God has promised to make the earth perfect again.
>
> 2.. When Jesus comes, He will take His children to heaven.
>
> 3.. After the earth has been made clean from sin, the Holy City, the New
> Jerusalem, will come down from heaven to this earth. God's people will
> make
> their home on the new earth. There will be no more sorrow, sickness, or
> death.
>
> 4.. If you want to be saved, accept Jesus as your Savior. Show you love
> Him by keeping and following His commandments.
>
> LET US PRAY THIS PRAYER:
>
> “Dear Lord, I thank You for the promise of a beautiful home. Help me to
> live
> FOR You now, so that I can live WITH You on Your new earth. Amen.”
