ONE DAY AT A TIME

Everything has its own time, and there is a specific time for every activity
under heaven:
a time to be born and
a time to die,
a time to plant and
a time to pull out what was planted,
a time to kill and
a time to heal,
a time to tear down and
a time to build up,
a time to cry and
a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and
a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and
a time to gather them,
a time to hug and
a time to stop hugging,
a time to start looking and
a time to stop looking,
a time to keep and
a time to throw away,
a time to tear apart and
a time to sew together,
a time to keep quiet and
a time to speak out,
a time to love and
a time to hate,
a time for war and
a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

M. Scott Peck begins his book, The Road Less Traveled, with these words, "Life
is difficult." I certainly can't argue with him. For me, life has truly been
difficult. I'm sure the same holds true for you.

God's ways are not our ways. No matter who we are we just will not ever be able
to grasp all that He is and all that He has planned in this world. Oh, we
may be able to occasionally bask in His Presence for short times and receive
some profound truths from Him, but we will never know it all! If you are like
me, most of the time you don't even know what questions to ask, much less know
the answers.

God has an appointed purpose and time schedule for each one of us. Yet, He
doesn't treat us like puppets on a string. He has given us the ability to make
choices and that's where life gets truly difficult. Do we hunger to do His will
or feast on our fleshly desires? Whatever we choose He allows.

As I've many times, He has given me a second chance in this life and I'm going
to do my best to not let Him down too badly. My time to be born has passed
and my time to die is somewhere in the future. I've already wasted a lot of
time in self-pity and wandering around. It's time to get serious about His
plan for me. Yet, I can only take and process that plan one day at a time. Only
He knows what time it is for me today, but if I'm close enough to Him I'm
sure He'll share.

Lord, I praise You and thank You for Your Word and Your truth! I want to rest
in Your embrace and be in the right time frame You have for me. Help me this
day to hear Your voice and know what choices I need to make. I trust You to
steer the way - one day at a time.
