Hi all, I have recently written the below story and hope you will enjoy reading
it?

I found it difficult to accept my sight and hearing loss, but I thank God for
every new day and accept it as a challenge to learn something new and
wonderful! Life Is Fun and I enjoy living and all those little milestones
along the journey. Did you ever cross a brook using steppingstones? I did, my
dad put them down for me and told me (when I was 9) that this is what life was
to be like, and I had to be careful not to land in the waters as some
would be too deep without boots on! I often think of my dad and how he helped
me to accept my sight loss.

One day he helped me climb a big style so we
could pick the mushrooms on the other side. It wasn't easy as there were huge
nettles underneath and I had to be very careful.
Dad chatted to me once we were in that big field with those beautiful mushrooms
and cows with the big pats they had left behind which we had to keep stepping
over. He said it was another example of life, how when we are enjoying
ourselves there will always be those who like to place problems in our way to
try
to stop us having fun!
Suddenly we realized there was a big bull amongst those cows and he was coming
toward us with his head down. We were Terrified and dad told me to take
off my red jumper and push it under my t-shirt as red made bulls crazy! Dad
and I hurriedly clamboured back over that style and the nettles never seemed
to bother me as I hastily clambered for safety!
Dad told me life was going to be like that, as it was for him, and I would find
things I didn't like so I would just have to get out of the way and watch
the pats that others had left along the way. I always think of his words when
life gets a bit too hard to bear.

Thank you for reading, Christine W.
