Oh, dear Israel, you have reached the age of sixty-one,
Marvel, I do at the challenges you have overcome and the victories you have
won.
Before your birth as a state,
A sad story history did relate.
The land was barren and a desert did exist,
No longer was there a Temple or Jewish kingdom, but hatred did exist
Battered by the Romans, and plagues, and sent into exile,
The Jewish people were defenseless, weak and not basking in sunshine's
victory smile.
In the year, of nineteen hundred and forty eight,
An event occurred which was truly wonderful and so great.
The independent democracy state of Israel was officially and
joyfully proclaimed.
However, wars, hatred, death and destruction from surrounding enemies did
unfortunately remain.
With great resolve, strength and faith in God, Israel did succeed,
For Israel is an inspiration, and a Divine gift and blessing, indeed.
Glowing in the desert is a flower so special and so full of beautiful
splendor,
With democracy, technology, military prowress, oh, Israel, we admire and
adore you with words and thoughts so endearing and tender.
