  WAIT ON HIM!

This is what the Almighty LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says:
You can be saved by returning to me.
  You can have rest.
You can be strong by being quiet and by trusting me.
  But you don't want that.
  Isaiah 30:15

Now, if you read this verse on two mornings in a row what would you assume?
Well, I assumed that my Father was telling me that I needed to repent about
something and get back to wholehearted commitment to Him. So, in the quiet of
the morning I got very still and gave Him permission to show me my heart.
  He did.

Sometime back I felt a prompting in my spirit to really work on singing
again; to spend time singing daily so that when the Lord called on me I would be
ready. At the same time, I felt a prompting that I was to get up every
morning and get ready as though I was going out for the day. I have failed to do
  both! I repented.

Now, my Father didn't reprimand me with condemnation. Isaiah 30:18 NLT tells
us the posture God takes in waiting on us: "But the Lord still waits for you
to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a
faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for him to help them." If we will
wait willingly, confidently, God will come through for us.

Like two sheep in a book I read, Wanda who wanders and Imp who acts
impulsively, we get out of line with God's will for us and find ourselves
beside stagnant
water. All the while the Holy Spirit is warning us that we need to remember
the wisdom we learned in Kindergarten, we need to "stop, look, and listen."

Our Father wants to be intimately involved in every moment of our day. Isaiah
30:19-22 NLT tells us, "O people of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will
weep no more. He will be gracious if you ask for help. He will respond
instantly to the sound of your cries. Though the Lord gave you adversity for
food
and affliction for drink, he will still be with you to teach you. You will
see your teacher with your own eyes, and you will hear a voice say, 'This is
the way; turn around and walk here.' Then you will destroy all your silver
idols and gold images. You will throw them out like filthy rags. 'Ugh!' you
will say to them. 'Be gone!'"

What are your idols of distraction today? Are they television, shopping,
playing computer games, food, or even your children? (I'm guilty of all of the
above!) Get still before the Lord and ask Him to reveal your idols to you. He
will have compassion on you and help you get back on the right path. Oh,
the joy of hearing His precious voice tell us which way to turn next. His
strength and His ways are perfect. Why settle for less?

Father, we confess that we have not paid attention to Your voice. We have
allowed ourselves to get distracted by the cares of this world. We repent for
our foolish ways. We hunger to walk where You want us to walk and do what You
want us to do. We stand before You this day like a little child who has fallen
into a mud puddle. We need you to clean us up and place us back on the path
You desire for us to walk. We are tired of drinking stagnant water. We thirst
for the Living Water that flows from Your throne. Fill our cup Lord, fill it
up and let it overflow!
