Wednesday June 10, 2009 HE COMFORTS THOSE WHO MOURN
The High and Lofty One lives forever, and his name is holy. This is what he says: I live in a high and holy place. But I am with those who are crushed and humble. I will renew the spirit of those who are humble and the courage of those who are crushed. I will not accuse you forever. I will not be angry with you forever. Otherwise, the spirits, the lives of those I've made, would grow faint in my presence. I was angry because of their sinful greed, so I punished them, hid from them and remained angry. But they continued to be sinful. I've seen their sinful ways, but I'll heal them. I'll guide them and give them rest. I'll comfort them and their mourners. Isaiah 57:15-18 At times I try my best to picture God, sitting on the throne with the cherubim and seraphim surrounding Him singing, "Holy, Holy, Holy," but I can't comprehend His holiness. He is far too perfect and glorious for me to imagine. Our God, the Creator of the Universe, Holy, Omnipotent, and totally Glorious loves you and me. When we reach the end of our rope, the jumping off place, and jump into His arms, He receives us who mourn for His touch. In those moments, most of us stink like the Prodigal Son must have after being in the pig pen for so long, yet our Father holds us in His hand and cleans us up. If God truly expressed His anger at our sins we would live very short lives mourning without hope. Instead, He had a plan. He became a baby in the person of Jesus Christ so our sins would be paid in full. Unlike me, with my children, our Father God never reminds us of the debt we owe Him, He simply loves us through all our mourning and even gives us joy in the morning. How can we ever pay Him back? Well, He doesn't expect pay back, He expects us to love one another as He loved us. Is there someone you need to call today and let them know you love them? Christmas is usually the time people make things right, but let's not wait until Christmas today is a great time to set things right - a time of new beginnings - a time for family. If the one and only holy God can forgive us for the way we have treated Him - who are we to not offer the same forgiveness to our family or people we once considered friends! Go ahead - make that phone call - you just might get the blessing of a lifetime. Yes, there are relationships that cannot be mended because the pain is so deep. No, you may not be able to call that person and make amends, but you can release any bitterness you are holding in your heart. They never have to be told they are forgiven, but the best Christmas present you will ever give them - or even yourself - is to let go of the past and let God heal you! Father, we thank You and praise You this morning for Your unfailing love and mercy. Give us the strength and grace we need to pass it on to others whose hearts are broken and mourning today. ******************************************* Please join us on skype on Monday and Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. eastern time and friday at 1:00 p.m. eastern time Skype addiction recovery1 and christ meeting O.
