GIVING BIRTH?

"This is what the LORD says:
"We hear cries of fear, cries of panic, not cries of peace.
Ask now, and see: Can a man give birth to a child?
Why, then, do I see every strong man holding his stomach in pain
like a woman giving birth to a child?
Why has every face turned pale?
How terrible that day will be!
There will be no other day like it.
It will be a time of calamity for the descendants of Jacob,
but they will be rescued from it.
"On that day," declares the LORD of Armies, "I will break the yokes off your
necks and tear off your ropes. Foreigners will no longer make you serve them.

You will serve the LORD your God and David your king. I will establish him for
you.
Jeremiah 30:5-9

I love God's sense of humor; I mean I love it! Talk about a redundant question!
No, men do not give birth to babies, but apparently they were in such pitiful
shape that in God's mind that's what they were acting like was happening. Well,
He wanted them to stop and look at their behavior and get a clue!

I just got a picture in my mind of Peter walking on water. Now, that took faith
and power - and focus! God has been telling us for ages that we are not
to look at our circumstances or we will lose hope and our faith will flounder!
From day one He has promised that He will save us. He did, He has, and He
will!

I was reading something the other day about the power of God's call. When Jesus
called Peter out of the boat He was able to walk on water because that was
what Jesus called him to do. When Lazarus came back from the dead he was able
to do it because that is what Jesus called him to do. When God calls He empowers
and we are to walk in that power, and not lose our focus.

What if Lazarus had looked at what he could see? All he could see was grave
clothes. I mean the man was wrapped up mummy style. Yet, he didn't look at that.
He went straight for the voice of Jesus even though he was physically
constrained. Do you get it? Just as Jesus broke Lazarus free from the clothes of
death He will set us free from whatever is holding us back if we will simply
obey the call and keep our focus.

God called me to encourage people to trust Him. He then called me to organize a
ministry and call other people to come along beside me. Now, from time to
time it is very easy to start focusing on the people He sends to me, but that
is not where my focus needs to be. My eyes need to stay on Him - not the
call - not the ministry - not the people - Him! Maybe that is why we need a
wilderness.

The wilderness in Jerusalem and surrounding areas is treeless. There is nothing
to distract anyone, unless you can be distracted by desolation, and many
of us are. Let's make a commitment to focus on the God who owns the cattle on a
thousand hills, respond to His call, go forth, and give birth to the call;
instead of standing around whining. Ooops, Hallelujah!

Father, we hear You. We are responding as best we can. Of course, You know
that. The only thing we want to give birth to is Your plan for our lives. Free
us from whatever is holding us back. Help us let it go and trust You with it,
even if it's codependency with our children. Oh, God, help us!
