Monday July 6, 2009 HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS
"The days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will keep the promise that I made to Israel and Judah. In those days and at that time, I will cause a righteous branch to spring up for David. He will do what is fair and right in the land. In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live securely. Jerusalem will be called The LORD Our Righteousness." Jeremiah 33:14-16 Imagine that - the Lord is our righteousness! I love it when Joyce Meyer starts singing, "Righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost"! She is constantly saying that we will not have peace and joy until we have righteousness, but what exactly does that mean? Well, the Bible says that Jesus went about doing good because He was anointed by the Father to do so, and based on what I have been taught, that is righteousness. Well, guess what?! He anoints us to do the same thing. Doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do starts as a discipline and slowly becomes a part of us, but it is not natural. All weekend I've had our son on my mind. This coming Sunday is his birthday, but we probably won't hear from him. We have little contact with him; well, that's how it was before Roger had his surgery last year. However, I've got to share this little incident from his life with you. Once, he decided to paint a big black circle on the wall in his room. In the middle of the circle he painted a white cross. Now the white cross was okay, but the black circle - well - who knows? Anyhow, he was told it had to go. I felt that if it had been of God the black circle would not have been there, because when we are in the light of His cross all our darkness is covered by His righteousness. Well, he finally painted the wall in that room - after he moved out, but that was doing the right thing. Now, just doing the right thing doesn't make us righteous, but being obedient to the Lord and what He tells us to do dresses us in His righteousness. Praise God I am thankful for that. I could never be righteous enough to earn His presence or His favor. Oswald Chambers says, "Sanctification means nothing less than the holiness of Jesus becoming mine and being exhibited in my life...It is the gift of his patience, love, holiness, faith, purity, and godliness that is exhibited in and through every sanctified soul...The perfection of everything is in Jesus Christ, and the mystery of sanctification is that all the perfect qualities of Jesus are at my disposal. Consequently, I slowly but surely begin to live a life of inexpressible order, soundness, and holiness - 'kept by the power of God...' (1 Peter 1:5)." Hallelujah! Well, God promises us that He dresses us in His robe of righteousness, and He keeps His promises. If He promises restoration (and He does) - He delivers restoration. If He promises healing (and He does) - He delivers healing. The only thing about a promise is asking someone to deliver it. All of God's promises will one day come true in our lives. For complete healing, in many cases, we will have to wait until we are walking with Him in the New Jerusalem, where there will be no more weeping or sorrow - or black circles. Until then He will leave it up to us to right the wrongs in our lives - by His power. Father, thank You so much for Your power and Your robe of righteousness that You dress me in. Thank You for reminding me to remind You to dress me every morning. I look forward to the New Jerusalem where we will be dressed eternally in Your robe of righteousness. Give us the wisdom, strength, and endurance to reach the lost so we can say without guilt, "Even so, Lord Jesus, come!" ******************************************* Safe Unsubscribe O.
