WAIT WITH HOPE

The LORD is good to those who wait for him,
to anyone who seeks help from him.
"It is good to continue to hope and wait silently
for the LORD to save us.
It is good for people to endure burdens when they're young."
Lamentations 3:25-27

Jeremiah is repeating words he heard his soul saying. Isn't that interesting? I
don't know why I didn't pick up on that yesterday! Awesome! I guess when
I went to double check the quotations it came to me - tell me God doesn't speak
through the little things. You see, God speaks to us through our soul.
Got it? Okay, moving right along...

Well, I guess most of us could write a book on waiting. Everyone hates waiting
in doctors ' offices, fast food lines, grocery lines, and those kind of things,
but the hardest thing for almost everyone I know is waiting on the Lord. Yet,
even harder is it for young people to wait for God to open the doors of their
future and to submit to discipline. It is much easier - they think - to rebel
and have their way. Boy, what a wonderful lesson on waiting.

The dictionary's definition of waiting means: to guard, watch, to stay in a
place or remain in readiness or in anticipation; to remain temporarily undone
or neglected; to be, remain, or delay in expectation or anticipation of
something.

Psalm 130:5-6 says, "I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and with hope I wait
for his word. My soul waits for the LORD more than those who watch for the
morning, more than those who watch for the morning." Now watchmen are
definitely used to waiting. There are few jobs more boring than simply standing
guard
and waiting for the next shift. How wonderful that God prepares us with such
wonderful visuals of waiting on Him.

In a sense, I believe God wants us to rest as we wait. Psalm 62:1, 5 proclaims
"My soul waits calmly for God alone. My salvation comes from him...Wait calmly
for God alone, my soul, because my hope comes from him." Naturally, those among
us who are type "A" personalities have no understanding of this - right?

Waiting and resting is the stuff hope comes from. Micah 7:7 combines waiting
and hoping, "I will look to the LORD. I will wait for God to save me. I will
wait for my God to listen to me." So, there are times when we need to watch for
His hope like children wait and watch for their annual visit from Santa
Claus. Yet, we will receive our heart's desires, and even some of our physical
desires, when we wait on Him.

So for those of you who are like us, your finances are low, there is little
sign of any help in sight, take this wonderful promise to heart, "Wait with
hope for the LORD. Be strong, and let your heart be courageous. Yes, wait with
hope for the LORD." Psalms 27:14

Father, I praise You this morning for Your patience in working with us. I
praise You because You are worthy to be praised. I praise You because You know
the beginning from the end and everything in between. I praise You become I
know You are working all things together for my good. I praise You because
You promise that You inhabit the praise of Your people! Be near me as I wait
for Your provision and I rest in joyful expectation of what You will do next
in my life. Please forgive me for ever doubting that You care. I know You do
Lord. I love You.
