GOOD NEWS!
The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.
If we are his children, we are also God's heirs. If we share in Christ's
suffering in order to share his glory, we are heirs together with him.
I consider our present sufferings insignificant compared to the glory that
will soon be revealed to us. All creation is eagerly waiting for God to
reveal who his children are.
Romans 8:16-19
For those who are not ashamed of the Good News about what Christ has done in
their lives it is hard to be a hypocrite. Sharing the testimony of what God
has done in our lives through the lifeblood of Jesus Christ frees us from
the chains of hypocrisy. Oh, we may fall back into the hypocrite role from
time to time, but it is impossible to stay there when we face the truth of
who we are in the shadow of the Cross.
At the heart of freedom in Christ is truth. Without the intervention of
Jesus Christ at Calvary none of us would stand a chance. It is He who gives
us life and breath. Without the grace given to us through the redemptive act
of love by Jesus on the cross we would be under the wrath of God and bound
for hell.
Personally, I feel that the way God shows His anger against sinful, wicked
people is allowing them to suffer the consequences of their eternal choice -
to disregard the price paid for their salvation. Honestly, if we really sat
and thought about it, how many of us did not instinctively know that God was
real before we yielded our lives to Him?
These words from Isaiah (57:15-21) TLB get at the very core of God's heart:
"The high and lofty one who inhabits eternity, the Holy One, says this: 'I
live in that high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and
humble. I refresh the humble and give new courage to those with repentant
hearts. For I will not fight against you forever; I will not always show my
anger. If I did, all people would pass away - all the souls I have made. I
was angry and punished these greedy people. I withdrew myself from them, but
they went right on sinning. I have seen what they do, but I will heal them
anyway! I will lead them and comfort those who mourn. Then words of praise
will be on their lips. May they have peace, both near and far, for I will
heal them all,' says the Lord. 'But those who still reject me are like the
restless sea. It is never still but continually churns up mire and dirt.
There is no peace for the wicked,' says my God."
Father, I thank You and praise You for Your unfailing love. You amaze me.
Give me the strength to love as You love. I want to be more like You.
