Hi all, yesterday, there was a homeless guy named Mark who needed a warm place to stay and food in his tummy. I couldn't just sit there and watch it all happen. I did something about it. I was at ILR and he wasn't getting the help he needed as the one person was unavailable to help him. I told him he could stay with us for the evening and he came, had dinner, stayed for bible study, and then stayed the night with us. we gaave him a bus pass. We gave him three meals. and a place to sleep but he had to sit and listen to a Bible study. He came to us on Bible study night and I wasn't about to stop the bible study just because he had come.
Today, I come in there to ILR and do my teaching like normal. After my class, the head guy and one of the staff people asked to talk to Todd and I. Then my IL specialest came in and also sat in on the conversation. They kept saying that I wasn't in trouble. I was wondering then why are they bringing all these people along. Well, I got told that I couldn't befriend or make friends with consumers as a volunteer. the guy was homeless and he needed a place to stay. The boss was saying that he could have gone to shelters, and any amout of other places. At the churches there are places to get free meals and foodboxes, etc. I felt a peace about taking this guy in for one night. My IL specialest was afraid that I might be endangering myself. Spiritually, I feel like I have turned another corner and a door has closed behind me. I feel like I couldn't turn back if you paid me money. I will be forever changed by last night. I have always wondered what it would be like to take a homeles person in for a night. I've always wanted to help people and now that is true for me more than ever. I guess people see blindness as a sign of weakness and so there for, we shouldn't do things like this. If I'm going to die then I know where I'm going. I'm ready to serve god in whatever capacity.
