Wednesday December 2, 2009 GOD LOVES THE WORLD
"God loved the world this way: He gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life." John 3:16 In the marvelous book, The Three Battlegrounds, Francis Frangipane says, "What men call 'salvation' is simply the first stage of God's plan for our lives, which is to conform us in character and power to the image of Jesus Christ. If we fail to see our relationship to God as such, we will allow too many areas within us to remain unchanged. Pulling down strongholds is the demolition and removal of these old ways of thinking so that the actual Presence of Jesus Christ can be manifested through us." When I read this book I felt embraced by God. He led someone else to state the point I wanted to make much better than I ever could. This is exactly what He taught me. It is a basic truth that often goes unnoticed; salvation is simply the beginning of the journey toward knowing God intimately and learning to trust Him through the thunder. It is much like opening the door of a large house, the rest of the journey is what happens once we step through the portal. We have heard many phrases since we were little children that captured our attention. One that was brought to my mind recently is "that's a no brainier." A "no brainier" is something we shouldn't even have to think about - it is a simple fact. Well, that's the thing, we have heard many sayings growing up that are not true, but there is a genuine "no brainier" in the Bible that is absolutely true; " God loved the world this way: He gave his only Son.." So what part of that do we not understand? It took me twenty-five years to come to the realization that Jesus Christ died for my sins. How long did it take you? Well, it's time for all of us to get on with the rest of the journey. Father, help us now as we step out in faith to do the things you called us to do, today, and every day. O.
