HE IS THE ONE!

Hallelujah!
Praise the LORD, my soul!
I want to praise the LORD throughout my life.
I want to make music to praise my God as long as I live.
Do not trust influential people,
mortals who cannot help you.
When they breathe their last breath, they return to the ground.
On that day their plans come to an end.
Blessed are those who receive help from the God of Jacob.
Their hope rests on the LORD their God,
who made heaven, earth,
the sea, and everything in them.
The LORD remains faithful forever.
He brings about justice for those who are oppressed.
He gives food to those who are hungry.
The LORD sets prisoners free.
The LORD gives sight to blind people.
The LORD straightens the backs of those who are bent over.
The LORD loves righteous people.
The LORD protects foreigners.
The LORD gives relief to orphans and widows.
But he keeps wicked people from reaching their goal.
The LORD rules as king forever.
Zion, your God rules throughout every generation.
Hallelujah!
Psalm 146

At one time, Saturday was my favorite day of the week, it was my day to sleep
late - and then, the Lord called me to organize this ministry. It was about
this time twelve years ago when I began to feel the Lord directing me to give
up my job and go into the ministry full time. I had no clue how we would
deal with finances, but I just kept getting the message that we were to trust
in Him. Now, I may have known that with my head, but the message had not
really reached my heart. So, I continued to work - until circumstances forced
me to quit.

Over the course of the first year, we borrowed money right and left in order to
make it many months. It took quite some time for the Lord to show me that
I was trusting in people and not in Him. As a matter of fact, He still has to
remind me of that. Now, I know for sure that, as David said in Psalm 3, God
is even the lifter of my head. Without Him breathing life into me every moment
I would not even exist. Oh, people, we are to praise Him!

When He provides me with the privilege of working in the life of a hurting
person or writing a devotional that inspires or encourages people or leads
others
to minister - I know that He is the one who works it all out for His good and
His glory. I realize more and more that I am merely an instrument. He is
the one who feeds, sets prisoners free, gives insight to those who are hurting,
frees people from their heavy burdens, and gives us the means to help widows
and orphans, I am merely His hand extended.

So, let us this day, be thankful that we have another day to draw closer to Him
and reach out to others during this season of anticipation approaching
Christmas.
I know there are some of you reading this today who are under a weight of
anguish, whether emotional, physical, or spiritual, and/or can't see much hope
of a toy filled Christmas, but I also know that He is the lifter of your head
too. He hurts with you.

Oh Father, You are the One! You are the life-giver. You are the reason we live,
more, and have our being. I pray that today You will grant relief for those
who are hurting - for whatever reason - and send someone across their paths who
will give them a word of hope during this season of advent. Help us to
have the presence of mind and strength to praise You today - no matter what is
happening in our lives.
