Tuesday January 5, 2010 HIS BROKEN HEART Now the LORD observed the extent of the people's wickedness, and he saw that all their thoughts were consistently and totally evil. So the LORD was sorry he had ever made them. It broke his heart. And the LORD said, "I will completely wipe out this human race that I have created. Yes, and I will destroy all the animals and birds, too. I am sorry I ever made them." But Noah found favor with the LORD. Genesis 6:5-8 Well, this should tell you that God's heart can and has been broken - He can relate to you on many levels. Psalm 37:4 says, "Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart's desires. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart's desires." He knows our heart, He knows how we hurt and what will please us. He is willing to give us those things - if we delight in Him. Unfortunately, in the beginning, God was extremely displeased with the people He created - hence - the flood. He's been disappointed many, many times since then, but never has He taken such drastic measures again - with the exception of sending His Son to the cross. Now, there have been times when I've been pretty disappointed in my children, however, I'm not God and I didn't have the freedom to "get rid of them." That doesn't mean that in my heart I didn't want to or I didn't think about it - I did. My heart was broken by their behavior - so I turned to my Father and He pulled me through. It took me a while to let Him, but we did it. I don't know where you are today, whether or not you have children that are rebelling, or whether your marriage might be failing, but take heart - He knows your heart. He knows right where you are and what you are going through. You may not see immediate results - you usually won't - He gives your children free will. However, you can cling to Him and other people who understand what you are going through. Lord, help us all to know that we are not alone, You are with us and there are others experiencing the same things. Help us to truly become a community of Hope.
