Pride goes before destruction, And a
haughty spirit before a fall. Better to
be of a humble spirit with the lowly,
Than to divide the spoil with the proud.
( Proverbs 16:18-19 *NKJV )
Dear Addison,
Destructive pride can be a major stumbling block in your
Christian walk! We are as God's Children to be of a humble
spirit. For it is written; God resists the proud, But
gives grace to the humble. ( 1 Peter 5:5 )
It is also written; For thus says the High and Lofty One
Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
"I dwell in the high and holy place, with him who
has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the
spirit of the humble. ( Isaiah 57:15 )
Now our Savior Jesus Christ, speaking of entering the
Kingdom of Heaven said, And indeed there are
last who will be first, and there are first who will
be last." ( Luke 13:30 ) Also Jesus' half brother
wrote: He gives more grace. Therefore He says:
"God resists the proud, but gives grace to the
humble." ( James 4:6 )
So Addison, Humble yourselves under the mighty
hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,
casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for
you. Amen ( 1 Peter 5:6-7 )
