I think I did some work to address some of this in my developement branch a few months ago. Alas due to having to finish my PhD, and my son arriving a month early, I've taken my eye of the ball and not finished this work. It's worth doing a diff to see what I'd done however.
The relevant branch is, or was DBIx::Class/branches/DBIx-Class/mysql-nested-commits. The tree was rearranged wasn't it? I think I saw an email about that. Joe
