Unisys Announces Cloud 20/20 Version 5.0 – Where Students Compete to
Demonstrate Innovative Thinking in Cloud Computing

Bangalore, India, July 4, 2013: Unisys today announced that
registration is open for Cloud 20/20 Version 5.0, the annual technical
project contest. Entering its fifth year, the contest recognizes
innovative thinking among engineering students across India to address
the technical challenges of cloud computing.
The contest requires participants to put theory into practice by
working in teams of four, supported by two project guides, to showcase
live cloud computing projects. This year’s contest focuses on the
real-world challenges of implementing successful cloud computing
solutions. Topics for this year include automation for cloud
computing; application development for the cloud; security issues in
the cloud; consumerization of IT; big data in the cloud; and potential
future technologies, open source technologies, and disruptive
technologies.
Registration for the contest closes on October 2, 2013.

Cloud 20/20 Version 5.0 will also include an additional contest for
students who are part of the Unisys Innovation Labs (UIL) program.
These students have the opportunity to create demonstrable projects on
Unisys technologies – the ClearPath ePortal mobile application
development capability, and the model-driven, SOA-ready Business
Information Server (BIS) and Agile Business (AB) Suite rapid
application development environments.
LNV Samy, Vice President, Technology and Services - India, China, and
Australia, Unisys, said,
“Cloud computing is changing the face of the IT industry, but still
presents numerous
challenges. In the last five years of Cloud 20/20, we have witnessed a
hotbed of innovation
among the talented student engineering community and I have no doubt
that this year’s entries
will continue to surprise and challenge our judging panel.”
Unisys Cloud 20/20 Version 5.0 is open to research students and
post-graduates as well as to
pre-final and final year engineering students in Computer Science,
Information Technology, and
other related areas of specialization. The contest will culminate in
an event in Bangalore on
February 28, 2014, in which five finalists will demonstrate their
technical projects to a panel of
distinguished judges from the industry and academia.
The contest has four stages – submission of abstracts, technical
project submission, a
preliminary demonstration round, and the final technical
demonstration. Contest winners stand
to win cash prizes of up to 1.2 lakhs and merit certificates. They
will also be given the
opportunity to participate in internship projects and explore career
options with Unisys.
