Yes, we've had some troubles with mailman and our mailserver in general.
I didn't know the list wasn't archiving, I'm trying to find a solution
for that now.

Well, your code can still be very useful :) It's always wise to check
all your I/O code for failures, so we should still use it in coming
versions.
