I noticed mailbox creation fails for mailbox names with the '@' character. No chance the attached patch could be applied to HEAD and dbmail_2_0_branch, is there?

No problem. Adding '@()[]' is perfectly valid. However reading rfc3501 on the subject I noticed that '&' is actually strongly discouraged given it's special meaning in utf-7 which we'll want to use if we want to support non-latin mailbox names someday.

So adding the new chars is a done deal, but I would also like to propose marking '&' as deprecated.
