Oops, meant to respond to this, too. 

We'll say something like, "Run dbmail-util at least once before upgrading
from 2.0.0 or 2.0.1, otherwise only newly delivered mail will be visible
in IMAP or POP3. Your old mail is not lost, it is simply not seen until
dbmail-util has been run."

In some ways, this is tantamount to an upgrade script, which makes me
unhappy.

Since we're a) talking about an obvious error and b) not losing any data
(just hidden, but not lost) I think we're in the clear. I'm not 100%
happy, either, but if the performance promises are what they claim to be,
it's worthwhile.
