As it doesn't get inserted, I can't access the message.
I'll try to get the sender to resend it, or send it to a different
mailserver.
Hopefully it happens again.

this looks like a mime-decoding issue so it could be gmime related.
There is already a lot of code in dbmail to work around gmime's
excessive strictness wrt address handling, but you may well have
stumbled upon something new. Can you please provide the raw To header
for such a message?
