Ok. To be more precise: authentication of a non-existant user segfaults. So don't do that for now. Make sure the user exists. It's shared behaviour between all daemons. A small regression of a familiar kind. The libzdb rewrite was very invasive and required changes to *all* query code, since zdb uses a totally different pattern than the mysql-ish interface that was used in the db*sql.c modules.
