I have the exact same configuration and it works fine (well not all fine anyway) for me.I don't think i did any special compilation or configuration on any of the packages, just the standard compilations.Maybe you haven't configured IMP correctly? Try to read your email with outlook (or something) and see if at least your dbmail installation is ok.That will give you a hint on what to look for (Php installation or horde-imp installation)
