Be careful with this. You need to do this for each database (except
template0). Try '\l' in psql to get a lict of databases, then connect to
each and run the query - the max_fsm_relations should be the sum of them
all. 38 is very unlikely to be right. But 100 could still be OK if dbmail
is the only other DB.
Once you have a value for max_fsm_relations (it's cheap, and the future
default will be nearer 1000), you need to set max_fsm_pages (I *know* the
default is too low for your requirments) and the VACUUM frequency.
If you continue to experience VACUUM killing the server, then you may need
to set MAX_FSM_PAGES very high.
Which OS and version of PG are you running?
