i now linked dbmail against mysql 3.23.57 but it has the same effect...

makes sense.

sometimes i have another mystical thing going on in qmail... when i send a
mail to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
it tries to send it to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
dbmail searches for
"@cola"
or
"@cola"
althoug it has to search for
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
or
"@cola"

Let me reiterate. I doubt that those queries are coming from qmail. Have
you set up some mysql connection from qmail perhaps ?

To make sure:

1) increase all DEBUG values in dbmail.conf to 5
2) restart or don't restart dbmail. Makes no difference since we're
only interested in dbmail-smtp.
3) cat some real or dummy email message :

cat message.txt |dbmail-smtp -u darokee

That way you'll remove qmail from the equation which is quite
relevant 'cause most folks out here are using either postfix or
        sendmail it seems.

4) ... and email the relevant anonymized syslog-lines together with your dbmail.conf to the list.

Once you can insert messages by hand fireup dbmail-pop3d and/or dbmail-imapd as well as your preferred email, login and read the inserted message. Go celebrate.

5) Next, integrate your mta by trying the procmail route or setting up your qmail interface as per qmail documentation.

6) When you succeed in integrating dbmail with qmail document your experiences on this list since integration with mtas other than postfix is sorely missing from the documentation.

0_o very fascinating...
