Thank you for the information. Since setting the charset to us-ascii in
Squirrelmail did not seem to have any effect, I decide to make a small
change to the source code, it works like a charm now :-)

Currently, dbmail only supports searching for us-ascii. That's the only 
charset required by the rfc. But of course more charsets would be nice. 
In fact, 8859-1 and all other 8bit charsets should be trivial. 
Multi-char charsets like utf-8 will be quit another matter.
