I've been running dbmail 2.x rc/cvs (Postfix 2 MTA) as my sole mail
repository for some months now. I have a few gigs of mail stored, but
only a handful of users. I had a few delivery chain issues about a month
ago that required me to go into the database and fix some mail, but I
haven't lost any mail. As of about a week ago, with Ilja's latest pipe.c
delivery fixes, all outstanding issues effecting me have been fixed,
including the empty message body problem. (Yay!!)
dbmail 2 does support shared folders, 'though I have only used them
briefly, I had no problems.
I'm not sure why you regard stunnel as a hack, it is a much more mature
piece of software than dbmail, and this is exactly the type of thing
it's designed to do. I've been using it for years with dbmail and other
servers, and it has performed flawlessly. Simplicity and code separation
is a good thing :-)

Hello everyone,
I recently installed DBMail 1.2.7 on a test system with MySQL 4 & Exim
4 and think DBMail is very good! I hope to deploy it on a production
system soon, and while the DBMail list archive was useful in providing
some answers to my questions, it also created new questions! :)
Does anybody reading this use DBMail 2.x in a production environment?
One would assume 2.x can do things 1.x cannot and it is better,
faster, etc.
I am wary to go for 2.x at this stage given it is still a release
candidate, therefore would it be better to roll out 1.2.7 now, and
upgrade to 2.x when it is past RC stage, or is it stable enough to
bite the bullet and go with 2.x now?
Does anyone have any stories on how well do 1.2.7 and 2.x have scaled
for them? I would assume past a certain point it becomes necessary to
cluster database servers, and until I get time to try out MySQL
cluster (part of MySQL server 4.1), everything I have read about it
indicates it should be transparent to DBMail. Does anybody use MySQL
cluster?
Will either version of DBMail support IMAP IDLE (RFC 2177)?
Will either version support public/shared folders?
There was a post about TLS & SSL capability not being in DBMail (yet).
Has much progress been made on proper implementation, or is it
something that won't be around for a while? I would rather the real
deal than go for a hack using stunnel.
Is it likely that Leif Jackson's patch for IMAP SORT will be merged
into the 2.x codebase, or is a UTF-8 based solution going to be added
at some point?
Thank you in advance,
Kelv
