FYI, the reason why we do it this way around (purge status 3 mails, then
set deleted mails to status 3) is so we always have one day
(dbmail-maintenance runs every night) to retrieve messages that have
been deleted by accident.

I've sent one message
all flags are 0

all flags are 0 but recent_flag is 1 and status is 3
I run dbmail-maintenance -cfpd and the message still is on the database
I'm a complete novice with dbmail, so I will probably not be able to help
you further :(
All I can say is that messages with status 003 are deleted for me when I run
dbmail-maintenance -cfpd. There are two steps in deleting a message; setting
status to 003 of messages having the deleted_flaged set, and deleting
messages with status 003. dbmail-maintenence seems to perform those actions
in the reverse order, so you need to run it twice to get rid of them.
