This is frustrating.. On SuSE 9.1, I had to do much recompiling and write a new RPM to get dbmail installed. Actually, Postfix with MySQL support was the trick, it doesn't seem to be available as a package for SuSE 9.x.
But all is installed; MySQL is up, dbmail-adduser works. Postfix is running, no errors. But Outlook Express tests and cannot connect to the the SMTP server. All this is on a local network, trying both by IP and name. Telnet fails both ports 110 and 25, but OE reports a good POP connection. I wonder. No SuSE firewall running, nothing I can see in the way. Where should I start looking first? I hate when people have such amorphous questions, but this is all I've got.. rick
