Hello all, I have a webmail with 155k users on a single P4 2 GH with 512 MB of ram, and I'm planning to switch to dbmail.
Is dbmail ready for dealing with at least 1000,000 mails account or not yet? Someone told me to use Courier Mail Server since it can handle this amount of users and more instead of using dbmail. So are there big enterprises using dbmail so far? My plan for dbmail was: Starting with 2 P4 HT servers with RAID as storage total is 800GB for each and the servers RAM is 1 G for each powerd by FreeBSD 5.3-STABLE MySQL 4.1.x with it as a db backend I think we will need 4.1 cluster, right? Postfix as the MTA. SquirrelMail since I prefer PHP as a webmail client, and allow the users to use the pop3 as well. But SquirrelMail, has a real problem that it makes a imap connection for every page request. SquirrelMail is also very CPU and memory hungry when opening large mailboxes, doing Thread sorts and such. So I was looking at http://www.imapproxy.org option, what do you think is it good or shall I use something else for the webmail? I need to able to deal with the spam via spamassassin or similar. My current users getting this in my current system for free 10 MB mailbox size. Calendar Favorites / Bookmark for the sites. block junk sender ..etc white list for trusted emails. Filter adult mails to be sent to junk ..etc. text/html posts. address book. Notes Tasks. Many domains to chooses from. I'm so intrested on hearing your comments/suggestions.
