Hard to help you, if you don't say what database, and what database version, you are using. MySQL supports replication:

I found this on the web: http://gborg.postgresql.org/project/pgreplication/projdisplay.php but it sounds more like a project for future support. Maybe somebody in the list can help us on pg.
