Yes it fixed the problem!

However I am concerned this may effect my spam filtering (not yet
implemented) and possibly relaying....? I guess I don’t understand why it
cannot determine that localhost is a valid host? Obviously it is in the
/etc/hosts file.... Thanks!

Subject: Re: [Dbmail] (Host or domain name not found. Name service error for
name=localhost type=A: Host not found)

You can try to disable DNS lookup in de postfix's MASTER.CF:

dbmail-lmtp unix - - n - - lmtp
   -o disable_dns_lookups=yes

I think this will resolve your problem.
Likewise it fixes my problem, but I would like to know why. localhost is resolvable by DNS on my server, and exists in the hosts file.
I get the following error with DNS lookups enabled:

Apr 19 07:52:39 mail postfix/lmtp[835]: D88A32AEFB: to=<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, relay=none, delay=1, status=bounced (Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=localhost type=A: Host not found)

Why is relay=none?

compared with DNS lookup disabled:
Apr 19 07:51:14 mail postfix/lmtp[741]: D6DAA2AEFB: to=<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, relay=localhost[127.0.0.1], delay=1, status=sent (215 Recipient <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> OK)

I am using the transport file like so because not all my hosts are using dbmail:

domain1 dbmail-lmtp:localhost:24
.domain1 dbmail-lmtp:localhost:24
fax.domain2 fax:localhost
domain2 dbmail-lmtp:localhost:24
mail.domain2 dbmail-lmtp:localhost:24

Any help / info?

Maikel

I have Postfix running with Dbmail except one thing.

Currently I can relay through Postfix with valid users from DBmail, I can check POP3 with valid users in DB mail, but when I send a mail message that postfix should deliver to the local account I am getting the following error, from both locally on the server (redhat.slackpower.com) and from externally (obviously I have -v debugging):

Thanks for any help, I looked at the archives, but the scenarios didn't quite apper to be the same.
