Bonjour Jacques:
I have had the opportunity by chance to run R2086 to 2096(dbmail-2.1.6 equiv) in a proof-of-concept system test for a civil services dept with mostly internal traffic - few users (143) - plenty important mail. I started the thing with a 2.1 mysql schema and V2.0.9 and when 2.1.x seemed stable I rolled in SVN R2086, updated the fixes and froze at 2096 around May 7.

This test mail is actually real-world, device-driven, twice-hourly sewer monitor data reports and is trafficked in a "Y" to the new and old server simultaneously (proof-of-need/resource performance eval). The users (who sought an independent solution apart from other govt dept users) know they are a collective guinea pig and are (enthusiastically) making reports on their experiences.

The upshot is that Revision 2096 (2.1.6 I think) is cool and on some pretty good evidence is faster than 2.0.x and MS Exchange (which is all I compare to now :o).

Caveat! This is developmental testing. Being an early adopter might be fun but it is not a 'Best Practise' to deploy developmental or unstable software in a 'Production' environment. If by a freak occurrence one loses a mail system, its accounts and mail, there's not a leg to stand on with software labelled 'unstable'. Getting fired, sued and a_s-kicked can come with that territory.

For the IT Pro, waiting and testing a few weeks till the package advances to 'stable' engenders the warm and fuzzy realm of due-diligence-done :o)

best...
Mike

To me everyting looks good....

Is dbmail-2.1.6 production ready ?

I just asked a similar question the other day. It seems the consensus is that the 2.1 branch is now fairly stable, and will only be accepting bug fixes towards the stable 2.2 release, no new major features. There have been a number of fixed already put in place since 2.1.6 so you might want to compile from SVN HEAD.
