I have recently committed a patch to SVN that may solve your special
character problem. I am not entirely sure of this, but it's probably worth a try. If upgrading to 2.2 is not an option for now, you could try one of
these two options:

- apply the attached patch to dbmail 2.0.10
- use the 2.0 branch from subversion (svn co https://svn.ic-s.nl/svn/ dbmail/branches/dbmail_2_0_branch)

We were planning on releasing 2.0.11 soon, which will contain this patch.
However, I have no idea what more has changed in dbmail_2_0_branch
since 2.0.10.

Paul, Aaron: could you comment on this? Is 2.0.11 ready to be shipped?

I recommend upgrading to DBMail 2.2.1, as the special characters are
fully accepted and are handled more safely.

Is this enough to know?

This is interesting..

Can someone check my work. But from RFC2822 addresses (name part) are to
consist of atext which is defined as

atext = ALPHA / DIGIT / ; Any character except controls,
                        "!" / "#" / ; SP, and specials.
                        "$" / "%" / ; Used for atoms
                        "&" / "'" /
                        "*" / "+" /
                        "-" / "/" /
                        "=" / "?" /
                        "^" / "_" /
                        "`" / "{" /
                        "|" / "}" /
                        "~"

so forward and back ticks in addition to all these other characters are
considered "legal" characters. Not at all what I was expecting. I
wonder how many applications are compliant to this level?

Subject: [Dbmail] special characters

Hi guys,

Maybe you can help me with the following problem.

One of our costumers are complaining about mail which not arrives. When I
look at mail address of the
sender I see that the sender mail address contains a ' character.

For example: johanvan'[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I can see in the log files that the mail arrives and that it will be
delivered. But when the client
tries to get it the mail is gone.

Hope you can help me.

With kind regards,

Maikel Dollé
